[IMG] Can Cavaliers use Carsomyr? Are Cavaliers considered a subclass of fighters in the game or as paladins? Which stronghold do they get Nalia's Keep or the cot in the Radiant Heart?

I was wondering...I'm planning to start my game over and I'm trying to decide if there are any more benefits to being a Cavalier than a straight paladin...Other than not bearing the brunt of Shura's wrath, that is! :D

[IMG] I'm playing a Cavalier. Yes you can wield Carsomy, awesome sword. You get the radiant heart, not as cool as nalia's keep. All armoured up and wielding Carsomy I went through some demons like a hot knife through butter. It was a place I barely got out alive as a kensai/mage. Palladins rock!

Can you still cast priest spells too? Because being a Cavalier sounds like it is a much better deal!

[IMG] All of this is in the Game Manual, Sir (page 86,87, and 227). Cavaliers, Undead Hunters, and regular Paladins can cast cleric spells beginning at 9th level; Inquisitors cannot.

You lose the ability to use missile weapons, that's it. You have priest spells, turn undead, lay on hands, saving throw bonus, Carsomyr, paladin stronghold quests, etc., like a regular paladin. In addition you get immunity to fear and poison, ability to cast remove fear one time/level a day, 20% resistance to fire and acid, and +3 to attack rolls against demons and dragons. Much better than a regular paladin.

[IMG] In other words, there are really no disadvantages at all. A real paladin shouldn't use missile weapons anyway...They should always be in the thick of battle!

Ladies and Gentlemen: I am about to undergo a transformation...From Belisarius the Paladin, to Belisarius the Cavalier! Well, I'm happy about the additional powers, but Belisarius the Cavalier just doesn't have the same ring to it...

Oh well...At least I can still go stomp the bad guys!

Strength and Honor - Glory in Battle!

    [IMG] Sir Bel-

    1. cavalier - A gallant or chivalrous man, especially one serving as escort to a woman of high social position; a gentleman.

(Does this mean you'll be starting an escort service?) :D

[IMG] A Cavalier CAN use ranged weapons like throwing daggers and throwing axes; it´s attractive that you can use them while wielding a shield.
His ummunities against poison and fear are are his main benefits, additionally he gets 20% resistance against acid and fire + the pal´s nice saving throws. If I´d play a pal I´d choose a cavalier too. I´d once did so but I soon noticed his poor pickpocketing abilitiy and started to play a thief again :D

[IMG] Sir Bel, I don't want to sound like I was your Nanny :p .
I couldn't resist the answer with hotty Viconia, but here, dear Sir you're just a little bit off anything I can still attribute to paladinhood :o .
I know gigolo is not a supported ADnD class, but it were, it would certainly not be a paladin kit.
    so:
    Hence thee, minion of chaos!!

[IMG] I've said this before...I'm not a paladin in real life, I just play one on tv... :D

I just belong to a hipper order of knighthood! Yeah, that's it - and I'm stickin to it! ;)

Plus, I'm usually slightly more chaotic on Mondays!

That's ok, Sir Bel. On the bright side, I hear it takes two hands to handle your Sword... :D

Oops, did I type that out loud? :o
