[IMG] well, actually i used to cast true sight + ruby ray + ruby ray + breach and so on when facing mages. they did well.

but yesterday i learned the spell strike and tried it on enemy: true sight + spell strike + ... so on.
to my big surprise, it always showed "***-spell ineffective" for my spell strike. then i immediatelly cast a ruby ray on the same enemy and it's ok, protection dispelled.

anyone could help me? does using spell strike need some trick?
    :help:

Well, it's difficult to say with exact details of the battles, but my experience has usually been that at about the time I get access to level 9 spells, enemy spellcasters start regularly protecting themselves with Spell Shield (lvl 5).
Because this negates one anti-protection spell (ruby ray, warding whip etc) of any level, it may be that your spellstrike is being negated.

I find the best way round it is to fire off a lower level anti-protection spell first (Spell Thrust or Pierce Magic) to get rid of the Spell Shield then use a Ruby Ray or Spellstrike.
Ruby Ray is best for removing a single spell protection, Warding Whip is my preference for multiple protections. I save the valuable Spellstrike for spellcasters with multiple protections that include Spell Trap (which, being lvl 9, the Warding Whip doesn't affect).

[IMG] Thanks a lot. A big help indeed.

BTW, when i am at low levels, my favorite is Secret Word. it's cheap and good.:)
but now every enemy mage uses spell trap, and the damn spell shield and some other protections. looks like my mage should cast Secret Word + Ruby Ray + Warding Whip instead of Spellstrike, saving a slot on level 9.
