I read the "Why theives rule" in the walkthrough section here and took a look with great interest at the effects the assassin poison. My problem is my assassin doesn't seem to be getting any better. I started a new game and shadowkeeped an assassin character and tested his poison weapon ability for levels 8, 12, 17 and 22nd. The poison had the exact same effect for each of the levels (tested on Minsc :D ). I am suspicous that it could be one of the many mods that I have installed that is interfearing with his growth. Instead of spending a lot of time uninstalling and testing which mod or fixpack is causing the problem, I am hoping someone out there knows an easier way to fix the problem. Perhaps a shadowkeeper effect?

It may be a technique problem. If you just change the level in SK, I'm pretty sure the effects that the character is supposed to accumulate on level-up may not be applying. If you change his XP, then the effects the assassin is supposed to be getting will be applied when you go through the level-up process.

You could also adjust the XP level of the character ingame with the CLUAConsole. Select the character and use

    CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP("xxxxxx")

where xxxxxx is the XP you want to set.

I think CamDawg may be right. (BTW, what freaky PDN is that?)

Level-up in the game and see if it works correctly then.

In the rare times I ever took an assassin I found myself NEVER using the poison. It's like when I played an archer I never used the called shot. I don't know why, but to me they were kinda useless. Personally I think the assassin is one of the worst kits in the game.

I don't call using Tungian's Bow (3 shots per round) with the poison usless. Everyone is poisoned.

Plus, 7x backstab is unbeleivably deadly.

The extra backstab multiple is a huge bonus, specially if you end up dual-classing to a fighter to get a decent THAC0.

CamDawg is just a combo of my name and a nickname. Cam was taken at the first BG board I registered at, so I tacked on Dawg. :)

Poison is the best to kill mages. If they have stoneskins, a simple warrior can't hurt them. But the poison can! And meanwhile they are suffering, you can apply new hits on them. I don't know why, but the poison is the most effective with traps. Maybe because there is no save against theese things. Try it also. If you meet an Admanantite - or what  - Golem just poison your arrow, and run. Hit and run! That's how assassins fight. With gauntlets, and belts, the THACO is good enough too... dont forget the staff of magi and boots of speed. The 7x backstab can do you job. One hit, one death. If failed, run and hide, or grasp the staff of magi. Simple. The deadliest class.
