I haven't been through many yet, but Alora is the only one to earn a permanent spot in my game. I expect Fade to follow. Alora is not currently available for download (at CoM) as Blood Raven is working on the next version and has removed the previous download links in the meantime; I use the previous version, downloaded some time ago.

One caveat: do NOT use Goo. He was Ghreyfain's crap mod. A single banter with Jan, a buggy weapon that will cause the game to crash a few seconds after he is hit with a Dispel while wielding it, and his soundset is incomplete (steals lines from other places). At least, that was my experience with only Alora and Goo installed.

I never play with mods, because all NPC mods suck. :p

Actually, lately when I have time (which is rarely), I tend to solo. So the PC is the only one I have to have in my party.

Tsujatha, who replaced Kelsey. Nathaniel might be there, but I'm still grinding through his game.

    @ Fel:

Goo was included mainly as a goof; I didn't think anyone would seriously pick him. However, I didn't know he was buggy...thanks for the heads up.

No offense meant, all you Hubblepot fans.

Hm. No love for Fade so far. I'm surprised...I'd heard she was very popular.

Valen is definitely my must-have. In all games, whether I'm good or not so good.

Otherwise, Willie Bruce is pretty fun. And Alassa.

I'm not so keen on the really chatty NPCs, since the seventyfifth time you play, it gets kind of annoying to click through the same old philosophical discussions.

In conclusion: Valen. Accept no substitutes.

I have been through several NPC MODs and Allison (the one day NPC) is the only one I always keep in my party. Fade might get a spot but she gets on my nerves when you rescue her the first time. I usually relegate her to a minimal role after that point.

Keto. Now this is the first time I played with her. I was going all the way with Nathaniel (wink, wink) but it was not multi-romance compatible and caused much bugs so I abandoned the sweet-heart.

I just tried Keto. Wow. That mod is of TOP quality no doubt. Voice acting is of excellent quality and professional, as good as Bioware NPCs. Keto is a fun lass too, a drunken but still smart and creative bard. Her comments and banters added a new dimension to my game. Pity she does not have a romance. Oh well.

I've only tried Kelsey, and I love him. It doesn't hurt that I'm partial to Sorcerers anyway, but he really is very well-made, and not any more overpowered than any other sorcerer out there.

From what I've read, most 3rd party NPCs are way overpowered in one way or another, which is a big turnoff IMHO.

Keto is not overpowered by any means, she is just a plain fun bard, I had to SK her into a skald to make her up to my standarts, she is cool, with a lot of banters, and an excellent voice set, the best voice set I have ever heard in a mod NPC. (fitting to a bard, no less)

Yeah Keto is quite fun, I love bards and I love «flawed» character who got personality. She's hilarious too!

Kelsey come seconds, he's nice well written and poweful to boot!

Yasreana while a powerful fighter she lack depth IMO, though bear in mind that I have not played very far yet. But she's real powerhouse.

Just bumping this back up...I'm hoping to get to an even 50 votes so we can get a better determination of the clear favorites.

Kelsey and Keto neck and neck with 7 each, but 6 people selected Others: guess I wasn't thorough enough with the NPC list. :(

I really dislike Kelsey. At first, I thought he was great-he had his own soundset, and he was a sorcerer, which meant that I didn't have to worry (I'm usually a sorcerer or mage type, but I went with an archer this time). He's pretty chatty and not too annoying...
And then I broke off the romance and went with Anomen. And *then* I picked up Imoen. And now, apparently I have two bloody teenagers in my party, giggling and calling each other smoochy and I just wanna KICK 'EM IN DA FACE.
