[IMG] I was trying to upgrade the Bladesinger armor for Imoen & I know Cesp needs the Scroll of Protection..., which I readily have & $40K, which I more than have ($100K+). However, He/She/It (that's a dilemma!) :hmm: says I need much more money. So just what is needed now?? BTW Cespenar is cool

  2. That is weird. Hm... Are you sure you have the Scroll of Protection of Normal Weapons? Check again if you have 40,000gp.

Either that or it's a bug.

May be a bug. I have tried five ways to Sunday w/ differing combinations. I definitely have the Bladesinger & the scroll of protection fr normal weapons & 131### GP. I tried before & after installing the patch. I put the armor & the scroll w/ Imoen. I put them w/ my main character. I put them in the bag of holding, I put them...(make up your own Dr. Suess rhyme). Annnnyway Cespenar recognizes the Bladesinger and the scroll but says (or eh 'sez') I need "lotsa more gold". Oh well, on to find more shinies,
    Joe

I really have no clue, but who knows...maybe it works..?

Perhaps Cespenar looks at the last 5 ciphers (sp?) If you have 78.000gp, it would be enough, but maybe 102000 isnt 02000 would be 2000 and is not enough and you would need an other 38000gp to get 140.000gp....I dunno! Just an idea...

[IMG] That was creative. I went back to an earlier save w/ just 58K & Cespenar still did not recognize the gold nor the scroll of protection fr normal weapons that time either. I guess I will now have to play through Sendai's Enclave for the Eye of Tyr to see if Ces will upgrade my main character's Carsomyr. It looks as if most of other "recipe" items are in Watcher's Keep. Tx! Joe

    Oh BTW,
another bug that mysteriously worked itself out: For awhile, for no reason I could figure out, the Crom Faeyr was stuck as the only weapon Anomen could use (I got a "magical item in use" message when I tried to change), which meant I sometimes had to remember to turn off the AI. The problem resolved itself when I let him die, resurrected him, and put other items on first.

Sometimes figuring out how to get past the kinks of the software is as challenging & fun as getting past the bosses (somewhat) :spin:

    Follow up 06/06/02:
I have no idea of the source of the bug, but I did what I've had to do many times before in the game & start back at an earlier save (More so in BGII than BGI). This time I took a Scroll of Protection fr Normal Weapons w/ me fr SoA (I replayed the ending to better prepare for ToB on a few other odds & ends anyway and Cespenar offered to make the Aslyferund Elven Chain +5 on the first encounter.
