As long you haven't been to any of the Thief areas yet...

I think there's a readme attached, should give you all the info you need. Have fun

There's also the Improved Planar Sphere mod...that gives you some good items (and literally millions of XP)...but you have to fight the cheesiest bad guy in BG history. I believe it's on the PPG site...you should be able to find a link to it somewhere on this board.

With Expanded Thief Stronhold, you have to start a new game unless you are still in Irenicus' Dungeon. If you have left there, you need to restart.

You usually have to start a new game to get a mod's content.

I'm pretty sure I read something in the readme about CLUAing a character into the Planar Sphere if you already own it to start the expanded one. Not 100% though.

Even if you start a new game with the Planar Sphere mod already installed, still you have to CLUA-in a character (Teos). It's a bug of the mod.

    From the read-me :

After you have completed the old Planar Sphere's quests, simply create the creature psq01 with the Cheat Console on the first level of the Planar Sphere and you can start the mini mod...

It will create Teos again and you can start the mod ...

If you start a new game, you won't need to CLUA in any character. Just wait for about a week and the expanded mage stronghold will begin.

The quoted part in the previous post was incomplete. Here is what you read in the mod's readme file:
Which means that cheating is only necessary if you have already entered the sphere before installing the mod.

Nonetheless, I should warn you that Planar sphere mod (though it has an excellent storyline) has some other sorts of bugs. It also requires you to do some other quests before starting its main quest to avoid some of those possible bugs. For example, the main quest of this mod uses the harpers' building. It may result in a bug if you have not already completed Jaheira's dealings with the harpers. There are some other similar issues as well.

Inititate the final quest of the PS mod after you have done all other stuff in Athkathla.
