Well, let's compare Sarevok and Korgan,
Sarevok stats:18/17/18/17/10/15 total:96
Korgan stats :18,77/15/19/12/9/7 total:80

Sarevok's Deathbringer vs Korg's Berserk, Deathbringer deals massive damage when it aplies, but chance is low.
Berserk gives bonus for the battle, but in long battle results in tiring.

Also, sarevok can be dualled to a mage, not so helpful, but i count it as pro.

Korgan's strenght and con is higher, while his dex is lower.

I can't decide which one's better, as they're both great tanks, best in game...

 

Sarevok's STR is 18/00 way higher than Korgan's.

 

Sarevok can also dual to a thief. Does his DBA count for backstabs?

 

Backstab with DBA?(DeathBringerAssault) I really do not want to know how much damage it will do!!! It is quite impossible though IMHO.

My friend made Korgan and Sarevok fight each other. Korgan was killing SAREVOK with dualwielding CromFaeyr and another good axe, but then Sarevok made his DBA and left Korgan as flying chunks of meat. Maybe this gives you some ideas.

Korgan vs. Minsc

I have never once lost control of Minsc due to using his berserk. His berserk also makes him immune to more things than Korgan's does.

 

@Rastor: Never?! I always had problems with Minsc becoming a liability to my party and I don't use his ability anymore.
If it wasn't an alignement issue with good parties I would always take Korgan with me.

Korgan is a much better fighter. Especially with True Grand Mastery.

 

I have to agree with Caradhras ... Korgan is far superior and will always be the better fighter, so will Mazzy.

Valygar is his equal as a fighter, but superior as a Ranger and with his backstab he is awesome.

Minsc can be fun for roleplaying purposes, but other than that is the worst fighter of the bunch

 

Yes, it does. Look at what happens when Sarevok uses the Critical Strike feat when backstabbing. That's not how I prefer to use Sarevok, but I think those are the highest numbers I've ever seen in Baldur's Gate II.

 

Unfortunately the pic would not display for me WP, but 492 damage is insane!

I find that Minsc's beserk makes him out of control, but he does some serious damage (he only attacks enemies BTW) and I will be sure to usilise this ability more often.

 

??? Last time I used his berserker ability Minsc almost killed Jaheira... this is weird.
@Cúchulainn: how far was he from the rest of your party?
Perhaps this has something to do with it, if he has no enemy left and still rages he won't turn against the group if nobody is near him?

@ Deathmage: Cernd getting HLA's before Jaheira, in an unmodded game? That's weird. Jaheira gets 2 HLA's - either for fighter or druid - as soon as she hits a total XP level of 3,000,000 (druid level 14, fighter level... can't remember), apparently multiclassed NPC's get HLAs as soon as they start levelling beyond 3 mil. total experiance points. And besides, how many level 7 spells does Cernd get at level 15? I haven't played him that far, but six is way too much, even with 18 wisdom. I mean come on, that can't be right. Perhaps with the druid ring and all, but even then it's a bit fishy.
If in the EoU druid rebalancing you could only give him the improved form without getting spellcasting in it, he might be a viable option. However, improved form + spellcasting is a bit too much.

At any rate, cernd seems a decent NPC for a spellcaster but doesn't seem to offer any secondary skills (aside from the "combat form" that inhibits spellcasting). To illustrate what I mean by "secondary skills" - Viconia has very high dex, which allows her to work as a slinger OR a spellcaster whenever she needs to, and Anomen is a viable tank - perfectly complemented by the DUHM spell and a few others.

At any rate, he is probably useful but I usually have Jaheira and a cleric in my party, and his personality isn't interesting enough for me to keep him

- Tangential question: does Cleric THAC0 max at 10, or continues to improve to 0?

 

@Shaman: I'm pretty sure that's right. I had a lot of mods installed at the time, but I'm pretty sure none of them affects druid...save the shapeshifter rebalancing of course.

I didn't have Jaheira in the party then, so I can't really compare. You could try using SetCurrentXP to check Cernd's level seven spell slots, though...I have a good memory that it's 6, and I gawked at the absurdness as well.
