    @andrew
    I don't use the XP cap. Regardless, ability to fight would be meaniningless assuming we played our mages correctly. Personally, I think it come down to whoever got thier Time Stop off first. :)

    From someone who solos, doesn't use cheap tactics, finds many battles cakewalks, and has NEVER cheated or roleplayed bad in his life, you may not want my opinions.

    But I solo sorcerors and monks. They are the most powerful single classes.

    Watching your solo monk dice Yaga Shura is just plain FUN.

    Simply like Paladins. Always played them when I MUD'ed back in the day and always play one when I play any RPG that has one. It just has something to do with honor and righteousness.

    Sorry but could someone clear up whats the difference betweek question A and question B?
    Question A = Your favorite character type or kit or multi or dual or whatever to play with and why

    Question B = Your favorite character type or kit or multi or dual or whatever and why

    To me they sound the same. Oh well. My favourit class has to be a ranger. Don't know why, I guess it's because I think I would be most like a ranger were I to live in FR.

    [IMG] ill have to say the MONK, with appropiate stats, this guy always saves my partys butt, with his high saves and almost inmunity of magic, besides you can do 25 damage in higher levels have the best ac if you know how to equip it.
    an if you instal the monk high ability patch, youll be 3 times faster than anyone, dispell all magic protections with a hit, send enemies flying away, be best than an assasin for some rounds, burn and send enemies flying once a day, and the tipical i.whirlwind, wich was able to kill kensai mages of the same level (27).

    @Demogorog: Sorry, Kensai don't have themselves and their weapon... They are ONE with their weapon!

    Dual class is a joke. I dualled a fighter over to a mage, and his THACO instantly went up, he couldn't use his weapons, and he lost his profs. The first class was a waste of time, space, and experience.

    Dual classing and multiclassing is bad roleplaying, except for a few selections. All you'll ever hear is to start with bla bla, and dual it over to bla bla. Dual classing sucks. Bad RPing, you have to be human (boooooooring), and don't even say it's good powergaming; single classes and kits beat the snot out of dual classes.

    I don't see why dual-classing and/or multi-classing is bad role-playing.

    Heck, I don't even see what's so bad about lack of role-playing, especially in a CRPG.

    I agree with you Oaz, how is multi/dual classing bad roleplaying? Its perfectly good roleplaying IMO. It makes perfect sence for someone to specalise in more than one class. The only thing I dislike about it is how only humans can dual and non-humans multi.

    The reason only humans can dual-class is, imagine, for a second a half-orc Assassin/fighter dualled at lv. 21 for the backstab. OUCH!

    Sure, the crom fayer lets you have even MORE strength than a half-orc, look at the Con! And you didn't even sacrifice any Dex!

    A fighter that can backstab with the best of them and then keep on fighting...

    Imagine with scrolls of mislead... :love: :jawdrop: :bigeyes: :happy: :evil: :lol:

    That's not really any more powerful than a kensai/mage or assasin/mage. Or any character with Carsomyr.

    My favorite character is the Blade. I love these, they are extremely versatile and good fun to play. I have taken several through BG->SOA->TOB, but mostly in a party.

    If I want an up-front melee fighter then I will always choose a Cavalier or a Kensai.

    I never dual-class my characters as this just seems a bit too cheesy, especially when using a Kensai.

    @Bassilus

    You do realize you get your stats back right?

    Favorite class is prolly sorcerer. I fought improved illysera (sp?) with a solo sorc and it was the most fun I had.

    Bassilus was banned? I didn't really like that guy much. Big mouth.

    It kinda bothers me when people bash something as "bad roleplaying". A good roleplayer ought to be able to roleplay just about anything, it's when people recycle characters from existing stories or do things that are totally out of character. (i.e. killing commoners when they are of good alignment) The type of character itself shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not it is "good roleplaying". It's all about how you use that character.

    I always liked the kensai/theif combo. Not just because it kicks ass, of course, but I just love the idea of it. I always liked a fighter-rogue type character.

    While I've always been partial to your standard issue classic fighter (since recruiting ones that have str dex and con all high is hard), but I have to admit I test drove a monk starting in SoA and another in ToB and it's pretty cool to be able to take out a mephit on the first hit with your bare hands. And all the added abilities later are awesome.

    I also think the Sorcerer is a wodnerful class. Sorcerer vs Mage, I'll bet on the Sorcerer any day.

    If I want a fighter/thief I'll use a Swashbuckler.
    How could someone play a D/C or even a M/C F/T and call it good role playing?
    I'm not entirely sure of the reason but it doesent seem to be a likely combination imo.

    I've found Berserker to be the best (yes, better than Barbarian). I made it as far as the "last battle" solo, before needing to call in some help. (Sorcerer would be my second choice, so yes, I agree with a lot of the other posters here).

    I like rogues. They are so versatile and fun to play with. It's a shame that there aren't REALLY powerful enemies, like the ones you just can't beat.
