    Why do people keep saying that the wild mages have almost unlimited level 9 spells to use? What is the best way to use wild mage to his extend?

    Thanks!

    the 1st level spell Nahal's Reckless Dwenomer (or however it's spelled) is a first level spell that does two things;

    1) lets you cast any spell in your spell book in its place
    2) has a high probability of triggering a wild surge

    that means you can use a 1st level to cast time stop (or anything else for that matter) assuming your willing to take the risk.

    Plus there's always Wishing to replenish your spells, but that applies to all arcane casters.

    A WM has an advantage over other arcane casters because of the NRD. Limited wish doesn't seem to restore high-lvl spells, but it does restore 1st lvl spells that have been cast. This means that a WM has an unlimited supply of high lvl spells with faster restoring rate than any of the other mages. My WM has a Wis of 19 so I don't think that wisdom affects on how well the spells are restored.

    And even the spell trap seems to restore your spells beginning from the 1st lvl, so basically a wild mage can cast all the spells she needs through NRD's until her luck runs out with a bad wild surge.

    With improved chaos shield horrible wild surge rarely occours and you cn protect yourself from them pretty well with diffrent protective magic.

    And some of the time, wild surges end up giving you odd, but extremely useful effects. One of my favourites was casting Stoneskin via NRD and getting an 'area effect' surge. The entire party (and a random commoner) ended up stoneskinned. I'm surprised the poor passer-by didn't go into shock after his skin suddenly turned to stone!

    The annoying thing about Chaos Shield is that some of the "lower" wild surges are actually quite useful, and you stop getting them by using Chaos Shield. However I suppose it is a way of making the Wild Mage class slightly less broken. It's way overpowered as it is already.
