Now I've finally gotten my computer back in tip-top shape, so i'm going to start a brand spanking new game. Problem is, i can't decide which class to pick at all? I tried starting a wild mage, blade, assassin and almost a Swashbuckler to no avail. I just can't get myself to continue further than the first Mephit room in Johnny's dungeon before restarting.

So here is where you come in; convince me of which class out of all of them i should try out, what alignment, race, stats, and party. :D
They are all going to cruise through SoA and ToB only. My BG1 cd's are gone :hmm:

I play with a bunch of mods, can't remember them all, but NPC's that are available besides the usual ones are Chloe, Kelsey, and i think i installed Tashia aswell.

Take an elf Sorcerer or a human male Paladin. They are so powerfull especialy sorcerers at hight levels above 13-14.If you can resist, try an elf with the kit Blade and you will , at hight level to resist at the most powerfull attacks( I presume you know but...). If you want to have a pacefully game and with no chance of drain levels, death or vampires, you should try a cleric(Landfather-I don't know exacly what is the kit name-sorry)
If you want some anti-spellcaster you can choose a dwarf and the kit wizardslayer(or something like that)
But the best are the firs two.Choose them and hack and slash your way to fortune.
For stats, put in every class what you need but try at everyone 15-18 con. and 15-18 dex.
As for the party choose only the best and powerfull ones:Viconia,Corgan,Cernd,Edwin,Mazy, Nalia or Haer'Dalis(funny name hi hi)
Hope that you will lisen to me!:)
    "-Scared?-You wish!"(line from Harry Potter 2)

Well, install Dungeon-Be-Gone and get your butt out of that boring ole place!

I'm not one for sticking up for a certain class, so I leave the arguing and bickering for others. I am partial to dual and multiclasses with fighter mixed in, F/C, R/C, F/D, F/M, F/T and the ever popular M/T.

Oh, that's right, i've already got Dungeon-be-gone. that's imperative

I'm pulling up only cons for my part here now, i'd like to be seriously convinced before choosing. Cookie for the one who makes it

Sorcerer: Well, i most certainly can resist, they eventually get TOO powerful. And besides, I can bring Kelsey, and having two sorcerers would be way overkill. :shake:

Pally: Perhaps, but I've done it quite often, so i'm a little bored with them. So I'd rather bring Keldorn.

Whizslayer: I don't think I want a anti-spellcaster just like that. I need more convincing before trying this one :p

Cleric of Lathander: Naw boring. Never was much of a fan of PC clerics.

M/T: No way, I just decided I'm bringing Jan
although a multi class is interesting. More HLA's for me!

BTW, forget about the stats. I can handle em myself when it gets to it. I'm hoping for more "arguing and bickering" here though! Come on, I know you're out there!

F/M then. The only NPC is Sola and if you have that mod, then you don't really need my help. ;) He/she can do supportive magics, throw out Stoneskin, SI: Conjuration and PfMW in a spell sequencer, Blur and Mirror Image in the minor sequencer. Add the Ring of Gaax, Cloak of Mirroring, Celestial Fury, Equalizer (or Chaotic Commands), Boots of Speed, Ammy of Power, armor of choice (Bladeslinger Chain) and Vhailor's Helm and you've got a walking death machine.

    Cookies?!

Be different - be a Jester!

    No?

Oh come on, they are fun.

Powerful enough to contribute to any fight, but not so much as to make combat and victory unrewarding (is that a word?).

The effect of their special power is random, keeping fights interesting all of the time. "Who will succumb to his screeching next -- and what will he/she/it do?!"

With the Rogue Rebalancing mod they can dual wield and get some nice HLA's.

Spellcasting, up to level 8 with EoU. Picking pockets. High lore. A little meele. Lots of tricks and subterfuge are required to stay alive during heavy encounters... I always enjoy playing a Jester.

The Jester song gives random effects, like confuse, stun, sleep, whatever? I thought they only confused enemies? Or is that an effect of that Roguerebalancing mod? I don't have that part of EoU BTW, theire not supposed to so :p
That actually sounds a bit fun though!

Oohh, a backstabbing Cleric that also casts druid spells? Interesting! However, i will be going for AGES without it though. The x4 multiplier are up in the twenties right? Not sure if i'm that patient. Wonder if SK can make that a multi..

I think maybe he's referring to the effects of confusion being random: attack closest, stand still, run around, etc. But yeah, sowing confusion in the ranks of your enemies at will is pretty fun.

I would definitely recommend a fighter/mage. That was the last game I played, and I found the character interesting without ever being too powerful.

As for melee - I almost always go with a Ranger. I find they get the best stat rolls, and having the bonus cleric spells make things a little more interesting (the protection spells especially). I'm a dual-wielding junky, so it's nice to not have to waste 2 stars on two-weapon style right off the bat. If you've never tried a ranger, do so. If you like tanking, go with a straight-up Ranger. Beast Master sucks, and the archer is fun (if a little boring and repetative - shoot, shoot, shoot shoot...), but I prefer a Stalker. The backstab is great. Of course, you can always just take Valygar, and I usually do...

I personally can't stand dual-classing. I find it takes way too long to pay off. Besides, we're talking ToB here, and High Level Abilities are wasted when dual-classing. The fighter/thief is a very fun character to play, as is the fighter/mage. I've never tried a cleric/mage, but I can imagine how powerful they would be later on in the game. If you want a really powerful character, try a half-elf Ranger/Cleric - you won't be disappointed.

    Confusion abounds! :nolike:

But Fel unraveled it just fine. Means I will have to share the cookies, I suppose. :sosad:

I'll second DR's recommendation of the Stalker as a fun class. And add that FMTs are also cool if you've never played one. Also, I'll say: don't give up on the assassin! They're pants early on, due to a severe skill deficit compared to other thieves, but as you level you'll gradually find yourself at less and less of a disadvantage, and then x6 and x7 backstabs kick in... They can be great fun, believe me. Swashbucklers are more about up-front power, but to me they're rather boring to play, unless you dual them to something else at level 10 or earlier (Swashbuckler/Cleric, Swashbuckler/Fighter are equally as valid choices as a Swashbuckler/Mage, btw).

I've done a ranger too many times, both the regular and the archer. I don't think i'll bother doing it again in a looong while. However, you are making me consider the Stalker a little at least, but still, i have Valygar to fill that role.

Swashbuckler 10 -> fighter? I can't make sense of that? What makes that a good dual?

I tried starting a FMT, but he didn't make it out of Irenicus' dungeon either. It just wasn't right. And for the assassin, i'm going to solo one without using traps eventually, so i'll put that one on hold for now.

I don't necessarily want a strong character, i just want one thats fun to play! Of course, having a strong character that's fun to play takes the cake ;)
