Did you put them into the portrait folder in your SoA directory?

If the name of the file (the portrait) is "Takanaka" You will need to change the last latter of the name for a "L" for the large size and a "S" for the small size.

Also I might be wrong, but I think the small portrait needs to be 8-bit color.

this size for BG portraits is 110x170 for big and 38x60 for small they must be .bmp and be put in the portriats folder in the SOA folder, if the portraits folder doesnt exist just make one.

also the names of the portraits must be in the format of XXXXXXL for large and XXXXXXS for small.

    for example barbarL.bmp and barbarS.bmp

Wow. 3 replies already. I'm coming here for all my needs. ;)

    Saber: Check.

Maurolava:The filenames are GHEBL.bmp and GHEBS.bmp. Excuse the Takanaka please, that's my photobucket username. I'll try making them 8-bit.

Elfen Lied: I'll try adding on that extra pixel for each portrait. I'll try making a new portraits directory, although I already have one. Also, do they have to have 6(excluding the L/S) letters in the extension?

Thanks for the help so far, but I have no problem getting it into the game. It's just whenever I select it, it is blank(human shape with ? mark). And downloaded custom portraits work. Just not mine. Any more help would be appreciated, but first I'll try the ideas already mentioned. Thanks again.

There is no need to put "L" or "S" in file name, as long as it has eight and less letters.
Colour bit depth doesn't matter, I use images with 24-bit colour depth and it works.

Ghebast the Possessor: How did you change jpg format to bmp?

Only the small one will need the 8 bit change, the large can be 16.

The maximum is 8 latters including the L and S.

Razfallow: I changed the format in Photoshop 2.0 and I just selected the picture format. Is there a problem with it being changed from .jpg to .bmp that way?

Maurolava: The larger one is now 16-bit, and it doesn't work still. Although with my picture-editing program, I can't make the smaller one 8-bit and .bmp format.

By the way, I am using a Mac. Does that affect anything? If I sound impatient, excuse me please. I seem to be asking a lot in a short time.

Maybe, because your problem occurs when image is in wrong format.

Wow, they work perfectly! I wonder if it is because I downloaded them again... Thanks everyone!
