Avengers take negative to their STR DEX CON huh? Well my Druidic Sorcerer had the same penalty and a further -%15 XP penalty but these could not stop him from being the most powerful PC I have ever created.

Shapeshifters are simply pathetic IMHO. Their GWWolf forms can't damage some monsters and they can't cast spells while changed and they can not benefit from weapons and if they want to cast/use weapons then they don'T need the 'Shapeshifter' kit at all. Hmph I like a challenge but this is ridiculous! IMHO ofcourse. If you do it well, congratulations to you! I don'T think I can...

 

Heh. I say we make a special mod just for Silverstar that gives him a main PC of a Goblin Shaman and restrict what items he can use. ~snickers~

You can avoid the thug party in the sewers if you go through the centre or around the bottom of the sewers and approach from the Unseeing eye turn-off. Each way presents dangers but nothing on the level of the thug party.

 

^Thanks for the tip, but I guess if I want Haer'dalis from Mekrath, there is a good chance the thug party will spot me. Heck, cleric even casts True Sight when someone sneaks to them invisible.

 

I'm playing a run through right now, Silverstar, and those guys don't see you. Just go down to where the Cloak of the Sewers guy is, then from there towards where Keldorn usually is. There's no way they'll see you.

IMHO ANY mage-class can solo BG2 with all the challenging mods,even on insane.So a bard won't face many problems.
Improved Ilyich would be far from impossible for a bard with the right tactics so you don't have to worry about it if you decide to play with a bard(s).

It is very hard but even for a pure fighter there are some tactics for this battle.
If you want more details about that fight just ask.I can still remember it very well

Various levels from 20 to 40. Tactics' liches are >30 level.

Yes, I had to put it off for quite a while, but it's still going. I just hit level 16 and beat those rather annoying Knights of the Dark Renown. Improved Firkraag is giving me quite a bit of trouble though. By time he runs out of Timestops (which I can't even begin to interrupt), I'm either scared, half-dead, or both. If he didn't Dimension Door to me the whole time, I think he'd be rather easy. As it is, I have my hands full.

As for Firkraag,hey why don't you gain some levels doing the easier quests first?Improved Firkraag is one of the very tough enemies so I would face him with many HLAs.

When Firkraag teleports to you,out of his lair, and after he has finished his speech,immediately move your (hasted) barbarian to the narrow passage north of the small lake (NE part of the map)and stay there.Firkraag will try to teleport to you but his dragon size will not let him reach you.
First put some summons near him (fire elementals from staff of fire,or other summons).When Firkraag sees it he will start with a timestop and proceed with his uber-powerful breath weapon killing it.You just have to stay out of his sight and repeat the process 2 other times.IIRC he has only 3 timestops.After that move your barbarian closer so that you can hit him with a bow.Still he won't be able to reach you even with his breath weapon.
If you don't have GWW attacks (they help a lot here) you must have Tuigan bow (+1 attack/round) and some arrows of dispelling for his stoneskins.
When he cast prot.f.magic weapons switch to normal arrows.Keep attacking and eventually you will kill him.IIRC he doesn't like much arrows of biting and acid arrows .

 

Now that is an excellent little tid-bit. He shouldn't be too difficult doing it that way. I still don't have the Staff of Fire but I can go get it. I assume he only appears in Windspear Hills?

By the way, I never heard you mention Ras, the dancing sword when you played. Did you ever use it? I find it's probably the best mage tank in the game (for four rounds at least). I haven't found much else guaranteed to absorb four spells. Anyway, thanks for the great tip.

 

Yes Ras is a very good summon although I didn't use it much (maybe because it lasts only 4 rounds).Anyway mages with the rings of Air control have never been much of a problem for my fighter,probably because mages don't use true sight a lot

 

This is true. Anyway, your tip worked great and Firkraag went down. I got sick of piddly arrow damage so I went to using Bolts of Biting from Firetooth but when I saw he made his save at 1, I switched to Bolts of Lightning and he went down quick enough. He has some pretty awesome stuff. Too bad I'm good and a Barbarian. That flail in particular would ruin any mages day.

 

One way to make the game harder is to use only items , classes and npcs the original game offers .

some mod (probably TS) that takes my loot when I'm teleported into Asylum dungeon O_o. It's nearly a new game! How to defeat Lich with only one weapon +3?
Anyway, all I need to defeat this party is a lot of luck, skill and spells - I have them all (luck increases with time spent on game ).

 

Not buffing before battles you couldn't have known were there. Not running around with buffs all the time. Like the Githankys (no idea how to spell it) who attacks you to get the Silver Blade back. You couldn't have known that they were gonna be there etc.

And as said earlier, don't use extremly powerful weapons like Crom Faeyr, Silver Sword, Carsomyr, Celestial Fury. Atleast not in SoA.

Go healthy - no cheese. Project Image, SI and Mislead abuse etc. You can cheese just about anything, all legit of course, but it's still cheese damnit!

 

It is true that I use a lot of 'cheese'. I love cheesy 4 PIs going berserk around, or breaking summon limit, etc. I considered them to be the smart ways of bending the game rules to my favour; but nevertheless...Fine, I will try to stay away from that sort of things. Sorry!

 

I'm starting to believe that EVERYTHING is possible. I've just defeat this Asylum party using only stuff found in Spellhold, but not some broken items. Unfortunately, last lady dissapeared in unknown circumstances so I won't be able to have 2 characters improved to timestop, as well as doing 50+ damage in total per hit. Also, using their stuff is wuoite hard, as only Haer'Dalis will be able to it with HLA.

Since I know what to do, whole game becomes SO easy, even with mad mods installed. I don't want to leave next game :/.

 

HOW could you defeat that drow mage guy? I wanna learn! Pleaaase!

The ranger lady could have been ventured into a room, and locked herself in. Look for her, she is relatively easy to defeat, JUST don'T let her touch you with her weapons, they drain CHA permanently, at a rate of 3 per hit; so they kill so fast. And the other weapon grants immunity to TS.

I wanna learn how you killed the Brudaya something. I hate his guts!

 

^Rest. His total immunity will change to mega-immunity and so he's 'sensitive' to traps, as well as Ring of The Ram and similar things.

I WILL try to find here, but last time she was locked in upper part of level. I went to previous location and after Breudayel's death she... was not there :/.

I know not to let her touch me, but last time my PC suceeded in Arie romance with only 1 charisma point XD.
