[IMG] I have a friend who is with out a doubt a cheat. A cheat to the end and if given a chance would cheat at any thing. I lent this friend of mine BG2 and he predictable cheated his stats are 25 25 20 25 24 20

He did this by importing tomes on the first game.
What are your views on cheating on this glorious game and have you any advice for this lazy person?

    [IMG] Dear lazy person:
With those stats what are you still doing on the ground :p? Holy cow man, are you *that* bad at the game ;) And if you were going to cheat you'd think you do it with an easier way than importing multiple tomes ! You deserve to be pimp-smacked by a gibberling :D!

    How's that?

cheating for yourself is ok, it is your game. If someone likes a game without a challenge, be my guest, let them. The only kind of cheating that really pisses me off, is cheating in multiplayer games with people who are not.

If he plays for himself only, oh well, let him play it as he wishes. When he tells you the game is boring, just say he missed out on all the fun by cheating.

    [EDIT]

    Who's talking of battle.net?!?!?!

Lokken: I'd agree with you on the multiplayer cheating, and single player. If it's a contained multi. game and everyone wants to cheat, that's cool. But when you're cheating on battle.net, it's a whole different story. I can see where some of the people on this forum have really bad attitudes toward cheaters, even single-player cheaters.

  5. So? Let him cheat. Woop-di-doo. But if he comes whining about how the game crashes everytime he tries to level up, don't give sympathy. It's not your fault he wants to cheat.

Lokken: Ok. They cheat on the net and someone comes and joins their game. Most likely they have cheated too. I play multiplayer and every person who joins has cheated.

agreed - singleplayer cheating is up to the player, but multiplayer cheating just ruins everyone else's fun

    Think about it this way.
    CHEATING IS GAY!
you have to understand and be smugg in the realisation that those who cheat are too stupid and idiotic to complete this relitively easy game and are totally incapable of facing a challenge.

i finished the game like 500 times, so why not cheat, its more fun when you have seen it all, however, still bores after a day....

  9. Poodle boy, I hope you realise that you are calling me stupid and idiotic. I just find the game more bearable when I cheat.

Again, let him cheat and f*ck up his game. No biggie.

Yeah, there's a few people who have other things to do than read the mind of a programmer/group of programmers. Been there, done that, got bored with saving/reloading.

But don't get me wrong, I'm getting bored with studying for the Engineering Fundamental Exam and the MCAT too. I'd cheat on those, but if I got caught it actually *would* affect my pay-grade, so I won't...

I don't think we shoyuld call it cheating. We should call it customizing.

No, customizing is when you add your own portraits, sounds, items, spells etc.
Cheating is when you use the console or the :-X util to create items or increase your stats to superhuman levels.

[IMG] I would have to agree cheating is stupid if you plan to have fun. I can understand if they were just experimenting for 30 min or so. The only time i cheated with baldur's gate2 is when i lost jans awesome items when i couldnt find his body when i i beat Firkaag. I wouldnt suggest Baldur's gate to your brother, should play D2 because obviuosly he is only interested in hack/slash.

In my opinion anyone who cheats to make them stronger( i mean who really cheats bad) They are insalting Bioware by corrupting Biowares hard work to make this game the best RPG. They dont deserve to even load this game on there computer.

Sorry i hate cheating and i may have been harsh but that is how i feel. Sorry about any grammer or spelling problems im in a hurry

For the record, I have completed the game exactly 23 times without cheating. I do cheat sparingly now, normally for spells that are just impossible to find, but I really want. And I agree whole-heartedly about multiplayer cheating on ANY game. It may be a little off the subject (though not by a lot) but I was once accused of cheating on a multiplayer game of Jedi Knight, and was instantly booted from the game, just cos I was kickin arse BIG time normally (I can't help being too good  )

Enthasius you have beaten BG2 23 times, man that is hardcore. Wow.

And you played Jedi Knight too! Same here. I played MOTS too. The only shooter game I ever liked, just because its Star Wars and you get force powers ;). Nothing like having speed on, force jumping up, turning in mid-air and swiveling down your sights to wreak havoc with a conc rifle or rail gun on the poor newbs who were dutifully following behind you. :p Or the rouge approach: stacking three mines on a vertical wall around a corner. :p

[IMG] I dont cheat, i change!
I have several characters, including a Halfling Bard. Now anyone who plays BGII will say -"that's cheating, you cant HAVE halfling bards!"

I tell you to stop and think, is it really cheating? If you increase all your stats to say; over 25 each, thats cheating!!

But i think changing allignments and character races are ok if u really want and they are in line with game balance/background.

I mean, halflings should be able to be bards! I also "cheated" to make my Paladin a Chaotic Good "renegade" paladin.

Does anyone think this counts as cheating? if so, let me know please.

[IMG] No i do not consider that cheating at all. I did the same thing i cahnged my archers alignment to lawfull evil. It does not give you an advantage of any sort. I also used the console so i could romance with Voconia in TDD becaue i was a dark elf.

I've finished the BG series end without cheating to end twice. One time with a Paladin main charcter and once (after I got SOA) a 4 party multiplayer game (I created all of the characters and left two slots for NPC's).

I missed out on a lot of the cool dialogue so I tweaked some of the crappier NPCs to have them worth keeping around (gave them better stats e.g. gave Keldorn a better dexterity). Then I tweaked them (never gave them better than 80 total character points but I changed their classes e.g. Jaheira became a ranger cleric with better stats). This allows me to engage in all the romances and check out all the NPC interactive dialogues (some of that stuff is hilarious.
