Solo with Tactics and Ascension mods

Is it doable with all kits? I mean, a sorc would probably do it, but I just can't see a solo thief win some of the big battles where he's not allowed to lay traps before it starts. Whats he gonna do? He cant backstab and he can't lay traps, that leaves.. banging on them with carsomyr..

ANd what about the other kits? Do you think it can be done? maybe you have done it..?

Assassinate... good on all the powerful enemy's underlings, then it gets tough because the enemy himself is insanely powerful with ascension. Tactics is easily done with any kit you just need the experience to use it to it's fullest. Ascension is of course possible, just much, much harder.

 

Even if you use assasinate your enemy will rip you asunder before you got them barely injured.

What are you gonna do when your enemy sets up a super-duper contigency-spelltrigger and is protected against everything, casts time stop and starts bombing you.. carry around a bunchb of breach spells, what if he's immune to breach? I just don't see that it's doable, and I wonder if anyone here on the boards have ever tried it and could share their experience.

I've tried it once with a solo sorc and I got to improved Irenicus and didn't stand a chance, but I was a bit green back then and would probably have gotten further now.

 

I guess it would be possible if you hauled 3 or 4 scroll cases full of the top spells around and used them on all the big baddies.

That'd be very expensive though.

 

Spellcasters would probably be nothing but a minor problem. Since you're soloing just put on the cloak of cheese, ring of freedom and something that protects from mental domination. And for the really though fights you will find more than enought potions and scrolls to protect your solo character from allmost anything magic.

But untill you get acces to HLA's a thief would have a hard time handeling allmost any situation. Many of the Tactics monsters even seem to see right through invisility.

But sure, if one knows how to get around some of the harde battles everything's possible.

 

He can do hit and run attacks, because any self-respecting theif who is soloing in Tactics would have the boots of speed. That would involve VERY cheesy micro-management, but nothing says it can't be done. I've done Tactics/Ascension solos with an Assassin, and found it only moderately hard.

On the bosses, you will not be backstabbing, but using Poison Weapon, you CAN increase your damage output slightly on certain bosses who are not immune to it. Otherwise just hitting and running, hiding and hitting again is a very effective way to keep your thief alive.
