Have you tried reducing the game speed? (If that's possible that is, I'm not sure...)

EDIT: My best guess would be to go to the Gameplay section on the Options page.

That's a bug of some sort. Because of the huge difference in performance, I don't think there's been a game without a speedlimiter for over half a decade. My own computer (3000Mhz+ P4, Radeon 9800pro, ~1gb RAM, SB Audigy) plays BG2 no differently from the older computer I had before, and being as this is a very high-end computer at the moment, yours can't be much faster.

So like he said, browse the net for answers.

You might want to check in your config program for the frames per second setting. .FIX it at 30 frames per second. That should take care of your problem

Faraaz has the right idea. BG Config is a separate utility that has a separate icon on your start menu. You can't access it directly from the game interface. Close the game, open the utility, and play with the frame rate. You might need to drop it lower than 30 if it is currently too fast (30 is the default, I think). Cut it in half and see if that helps. I think you'll need to restart the game program each time you alter the frame rate in order to see the effect of the new setting.

That comment of yours just had to be replied to.

Yes, he is browsing the net for answers. And one of the means of his doing so is to ask for us to look for them for him, in a way.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it makes you wonder what the point in your remark there would be. This is where we come to the post made by Death Rabbit concerning people getting overly annoyed with others. So here comes; why did you say what you did, unless it wasn't to state an obvious with the purpose of invoking a negative reaction in others?

Obviously encouraging to browse more for answers is a way to say "my idea is this, but if it doesn't work then ask somewhere else because we don't know". Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.

[IMG] Thank you for the help, everyone. I'll try changing the config and get back with you. For the record, my comp is dual 3.2p4's, 2kRAM, and an Nvidia FX 5200 ultra. Dont know if that means anything, but Ill post again if I'm still having problems. Thank you again.

Naug, I've heard of quite a few people having this exact problem. I didn't have it myself with my old computer (it was always too slow) but since I upgraded I've found a lot of older games don't run as well as they should do because I can't set the refresh rates to what they were at the time the games came out.

Give it 10 years and processor speeds will probably rise to 20Ghz. Half the games out today might not run on them, or if they do run they'll be so fast as to be unplayable.

[IMG] ok, I don't know what the problem was, but it's fixed now. when i lowered the frame rate, the game got sluggish. so, i slowly raised it until it got normal, and now it's back where it was! Thanks again everyone!

If you lower the frame rate, the game *will* become sluggish. That's what is supposed to happen. The lower you have the frame rate, the slower the game runs. Increasing the frame rate makes the game run faster. That's what frame rate is.
