Okay, this got me puzzled too.. I checked all my notes but I realized that all of Lum's notes seemed to be asking for colours only in some instances.. i checked every cupboard and didnt find anything... now... the trick is to look around you... if you want a further hint... take a birds eye view.. thats one hint

SPOILER (if u didnt get the hint)

Look at the map, from above, click that N button in the top left corner, look at the couches/tables and their colours, follow that order..

To tell the truth, i sort of pulled out my hair on that one!

first, I tried ligthing the flames two by two each time with a different colour, so there would be 3 combinations, but all 3 didnt work.. then I realized that well, maybe its not 2 flames per colour, and i soon realized that the number of combinations could reach 717 different combinations!! Bioware wouldnt be that crazy.. so I looked for clues, read each and every one of that Lum's notes, but they all referred to the damn machine... so i thought... the pattern must be somewhere.. i tried the cupboards but then there were too many, i saw the couches but at first i only saw 3 until i look at the whole map and i felt a real sense of accomplishment after aboue 2 hours of desperate thinking!!!
