I just wanna mess around with stats and what not, yet it doesn't seem to show the newly created character files. I have the BGII-ThroneofBhaal_Patch_26498_ENGLISH.exe patch, and some of the NPC and Ease of Use mods, among others. Is it possible this is conflicting with the game's ability to read the character files? I even made the character's bio files for the corresponding new file, yet it doesn't seem to let me import the character, regardless. I've went to the website for Shadowkeeper, and it was last updated in 2001, so it's easily probable there it is noncompatible. Is there a comparable editor (this one is really great) of current compatibility? I would think there is, considering there is still mods being trucked out for BGII even today.

SK isn't your problem; it works just fine for almost everyone else here. I myself use it for the odd modification I want to make (have even submitted some to this very site) with no trouble, though all I have is EoU and NPC mods. One thing that might be happening is if you're running SK and BGII at the same time (with one or the other in the background at any time, of course), it might not recognize the new files right away. Quitting BGII and then restarting might help in that instance.

It might also help if you took us through exactly what you did and what the response was, step by step, so we might be able to figure out what the program is having trouble with. :)

Make sure you close BGII before running SK. Also I believe there is at least one mod not compatible with SK but I do not remember which one. It is mentioned in the read-me-file for the mod. Always read the read-me-file before installing.

Right, I do have BGII closed, because I know it'd have to reload/recache the character files and what not. I have version 2.1.4 of Shadowkeeper. One thing I've noticed is the save files it lets me edit go go Shadows of Amn save games. Maybe this is why? It's editing the character files, but since ToB is installed it doesn't see the SoA files?

Basically what I did was I installed SoA, ToB then the latest patch (not the the 99 BETA one, just the one I've already mentioned). I tried out the Ease of Use mod.. Then I installed a couple of NPC mods.. Saerileth, Fade, and Kelsey. Afterwards I found Shadowkeeper, and it looked great till I realized the game would recognize the new character files :(

BTW I apologize for not posting in the ToB forum initially, I should've understood I was talking about mods.

Editing the saved games doesn't create new CHR files; it only edits the saved game, creating a new one with a different name that you have to specify unless you've got overwriting enabled (not recommended). To edit an individual CHR file, you've got to choose File->Open Character File (or hit Ctrl+R) and pick one of the ones you've got sitting in you "characters" folder. Editing an NPC can either be done in the individual save games, or can be done wholesale on their CRE files (using the creature browser first to get them), but I wouldn't recommend that unless you're 100% sure about what you're doing.

I've got Version 2.1.4 as well, and it works just fine with my ToB saves, so either you're just not having any show up because you haven't gotten to ToB yet, or something severely weird is happening.

I've found a workaround, I can load the character file with Shadowkeeper, then edit the character file, save as a save-game file and then export the file from the new save game. Weird.

EDIT: Oh I see now! The filename can only be 8 characters long! Wonder why. Oh well, just found this out. That's why it isn't displaying them!
