[IMG] Hey all, first post here... I've looked for this topic all over the boards and haven't been able to find it, so here goes.

The Rod of Resurrection doesn't seem to work at ALL for me, nor does Jaheira's Harper's Call. Neither ever has worked throughout my BGII games. Whenever a party member died, I dealt with it by reloading, but now I'm faced with a mini-quest in the (newly-installed) ToB expansion that expects me to raise this kid's dad. Have a Rod of Resurrection, have equipped it on nearly every party member except maybe Haer'Dalis, can't even select the kid's dad('s corpse)--the moon-stars icon doesn't even light up around him. It does so quite cheerfully around any living character, but that's sort of, well, useless.

Is this a bug? Is some uber-god handing down judgment on me by refusing my requests to raise characters? There isn't even any way to pick up the bodies to carry to a temple, for crying out loud... Since it's never worked, I haven't bothered trying for months, but now it seems bleedin' obvious that it should work.

    Any ideas? Sigh...

My recollection for dealing with that mini-quest was that you did it through the conversation. I.e., you select a response like "maybe this rod of resurrection with work" or something equally corny. Alternatively, if your main character was a cleric and had the appropriate spell, that conversational choice would also be available. When you pick the choice, the game engine takes over, so there was no need to use the item.

DMC is right, I remember raising that quy even though Aerie didn't have the Raise Dead spell memorized...I guess her good looks were enough to raise him from the dead!!! :p :rolling:

Khelben doesn't want to sound like a smartass
Try targeting the portrait on the right, if there is no portrait of a such character he/she is permamently dead.

[IMG] Khelben's right, it works if you use the rod on the portrait of a character.

I raised the kid's dad via some sceptre of resurrection (or however that stick is called). If one of your characters dies some awful way that prevents resurrection, wish spell could restore him to life - at least that's what descriptions say. I haven't tried that myself - I simply reload.

If the Rod of Ressurection or Jaheira's harper's Call, or any cleric's ressurection/raise dead spell has NEVER worked for you Yert, (and this is assuming that you've tried to use it on the grey'd out portrait at the right) your game is SERIOUSLY screwed -- I'd either try and find a patch (unlikely -- it's not a problem I've ever heard of before) or you could take your copy of the game in and ask for a refund.

And if your character's HP is under -10 or died from a critical hit, there shouldn't be any portrait.
