[IMG] Well, I deleted a level 14 Stalker with good items and STR/18 DEX/18 CON/18 INT/15 WIS/18 CHA/18(RoHI) just because I got bored of him!

I need a protagonist (which is fun) that can go through SoA AND ToB. Please help! If it helps, I'm not into the whole brute/warrior thing and I'm not into plain mages or clerics. Well, if it's fun I don't care.

    P.S: I have a half-elven Cleric/Ranger with STR:18/69(I think)
    DEX:18
    CON:18
    INT:18
    WIS:18
    CHA:18(RoHI)
And it's just waiting to be deleted cuz it's leveling up slowly.....

    A pain I know well.

I'd try the swashbuckler, he dosent have magic but he's good without being a brute and levels up like a quick weed.

ps. shouldnt this be in the TOB fourm?

Well if you don't want the whole "chunk" experience with plain warriors or mages or clerics, why not make a mix of both? Your Ranger / Cleric sounds good enough, or if you'd prefer some arcane, why not a Fighter / Mage?

They're both good classes and should prove to be a powerful but fun experience within SoA.

Well, if not ToB at least SoA.

Is the Avenger good? And what's with the Sorcerer?
How different is it from the regular mage?

I cant speak for the Avengar but the sorcerer, picks his spells at level up and cant change them, he has less spell selection then a mage but can cast more spells.

Try a bard. Fast leveling, high lore and pick pockets. Any of the kits are your choice, but I think most would push for a blade.

My advice is to review the NPCs you really like, pick the 5 you like best, and build a character that fits that party well.

BTW, don't worry about "leveling up too slowly," this game has TONS of XP.

I always had this problem. I got furthest when faced with some kind of challenge. Try a Bard, bards are a laugh to play with and they aren't easy. Even better, try to solo it. :D

A Bard? From my memories of BG1 they can cast spells, right? Do they have good HP? I might try a Bard if it's not too pull-my-hair-out challenging (enough for me to uninstall it and break the CD....).

Bards roll d6 like a thief, so a 16 Con (+2) is the best. They get spells up to 6th level, unless you have EoU Better THAC0 and Spell Progression installed, then they get higher level spells. Depending on how you play a bard, it can be frustrating. I like having better HP and a lower Str, but some would rather lower Con.

Hmm... I think I'll choose a Bard. But, I really want to try a Fighter/Mage. It sounds good enough but you can't wear armor if you wanna cast spells, that's why I ignored that class.

    @Dark Slayer:
When you get towards the end of SoA, there is something called Elven Chain that you can wear and cast spells in. You'll know it because it's green.

I'm playing a Fighter/Mage right now and am having alot of fun, learning how to manage magic much better. It is more challenging than playing another tank. With some bracers AC 3 and rong of protection AC isn't too bad, just play in the background until you up level.

There is also one in Trademeet but it's AC4 IIRC.
Still Stoneskine replaces any armour :p
BTW I also had the same problems like DS did

Ok, then I've Option #2. I also have a big interest in thieves. Is the Assassin a good kit?

Whoa Dark Slayer! YES the assassin is good! It is a specialist thief, with some nice abilities.

The assassin gets a poison attack that will continue to damage the enemy over a number of rounds (check the thief guide here on SP for full details, it's VERY good!). This includes ALL weapons, and the damage increases with levels.

The assassin gets a +1 bonue to hit and damage with all weapons.

The assassin also gets (ToB) a +7 multiplier ... yes that's right you heard me --- +SEVEN! That is one way to cause some big damage.

Unfortunately, the assassin only gets +15 skill points to use each level for thief abilities.

Even so, the assassin is quite a powerful kit! But if you like the assassin, check out our new 'kit :D ' on my post in this forum ... you should be pleasantly surprised!

If you're looking for a challenge Dark, go with one of the kits mentioned above (or jA and I's kit!) but travel solo ... and make it insane difficulty. If for some reason you find that too easy, install a couple of mods to keep you busy.

Come back and talk to me if you get bored ... :D

There's the elven chain in Trademeet from Alibakar AC 5 or the Melodic chain AC 1 from the Planar prison (rescue the Sigil actors). A bard with no armor isn't any worse than a F/M with no armor. You can also use the bracers AC 3 from Ribald's shop. Though a blade bard isn't as proficient with weapons (* per wep), they can put *** in 2 wep fighting.
