Is it all that important when you save a game and it says x days, y hours? Is there a time limit or is the endgame different if you were faster/slower?

I remember when I last soloed through the game. Since there were no divine casters who could cast heal on sleep, I had to heal my wounds through time. Once I slept for 243 days down in the Underdark. I'm pretty sure you can take your time! ;)

It's useful for time-related quest, such as placing gold in De'Arnise's Keep or Schoalrs in Planar Sphere.

Most NPC quests have day-related timers too, but don't worry about that.

Your final time (finishing the game) doesn't mean anything at all. It's only for the in-between stuff that days and hours actually mean something, and even those instances aren't big enough for you really to worry about.

Time means nothing except for Ust Natha where you need to complete your quests on schedule in order to avoid having your cover blown. I learnt this the hard way

Even though some quests are timed, you never really need to rush to get a quest done. In every instance the time you're given is MUCH more than you would ever need. However, it's always a good idea to solve these quests in a timely manner. In any case it's always clear when a quest is timed, so you can save to a separate game, just in case you really mess up (highly unlikely, unless you completely forget about the quest)
