That is a hard question as there are many different classes that appeal to me and no doubt the same could be said for many other people. Still, I stick by thieves and the backstab ability. Gotta love it

Thief, definetely thief. Backstabbing, traps, versatility... Still they are bit lacking compared to PnP ones, but I still enjoy playing them.

Thief. UAI, pickpocketing for infinite money and good items, ability to create potions, backstab, invisibility, det. ill., detrap... Just wonderful (for me).

I have tried to play at least 1/4 to 1/2 of game with all the classes and kits. The ones I enjoy most are dual and multi class. I have more finished games using Paladin types. But my favourite single class is probably Sorceror.

It is always a toss up between bards and druids. Still, when all is said and done bards are my favourites. I think.

Let the party do the gutting while the bard converts slaughter into pleasant poetry, rather than being cleaved in two himself. :) And no complaints shall be heard for it, cause the bard's magic will become potent in time (even more so with EoU).

After some time I've decided that clerics are the best for me. They are very strong

Barbarian, I live on rage fueled frenzies... if only barbarians had Mighty Rage as a class skill in BG 2... which reminds me I'm going to have to modify the Divine Salient Ability Divine Rage in light of that, a +12 to Str and Con with +6 moral bonus to will saves should do the trick.

Fighter. Given the right weapons, he can cut up anything. Plus the class is flexible enough to dual to another class :)

Thief or Ranger... ohh the agony of choice! In the end, I chose Thief, but it's close. It'd probably be Ranger if the extra skills weren't so darned useful in BG1 & 2.

Rogues rock ,and assassins in particular.

I still have fond memories of Stitcher my H-Orc Assassin. Celestial Fury in the back at x7 dmg and great natural strength... that was a great equaliser!
Old Yaga's mum never saw it coming!!! ;)

Never really got on with Druids though. God knows I have tried but they totally bore me after a while.

Same as Colthrun, but I also love Bards. I woud love to play as a Druid, but I find them to be too weak.

Before AD&D 2E had The Books Of " " I always tried to play a Ranger. That was my favorite class.
