    [IMG] Hello and good days,

I am playing BG2 with a single character and there is a very annoying thing. I die when I am mazed????

As far as I know maze spell just sends you to a nasty place for a while and then you come back, but why am I dying. (And I am sure that I am not imprisoned)

Is there a way to fix this.

    Thanks in advance

Is this a solo game, or have all the other party members died? That might do it. Advice: don't get mazed while flying solo...

Playing with just 1 character (the PC) means when s/he gets mazed, it's the same as death.

Yep. Maze kills you instanlty when soloing. Imprisonment too. Dominate and Charm also.
Sometimes even Confusion seems to kill you(not always, thanx God). So, when soloing, don't get Mazed, Dominated/Charmed, or Confused. This may be hard to do with any kind of character, yet if you know all of the trap types and enemies ahead, you can prepare vs that.

Useful spells: SI: Abjuration(vs Imprisonment), Conjuration(vs Maze) and Enchantment(vs Dominate/Charm). Chaotic Commands(vs Maze and Dominate/Charm). Spell Deflection, Turning, Trap - vs Dominate and Maze. Berserker's Rage ability protects vs all domination and Maze/Imprisonment spells. If you don't have any of these, be advised that Imprisonment and Maze bypass Magic Resistance, so the only way(cheesy as may be) when facing a trap or enemy with Maze/Imprisonment abilities, use a scroll of Protection from Magic via a simulacrum from Vhailor's helmet.

There are plenty of items which give immunity to something when equipped. For a solo it is important to collect all such items he/she can use.

The whole Maze being cast on the PC=death is kind of a bug right? I mean it wouldn't work this way in P&P and doesn't really make real life sense.

The whole game makes little sense most of the time. It is a game, not real life, and has its own rules. No, it is not a bug, simply a rebalancing element, since a solo character is much more powerful than any of a six-person party, because he gets all of the rewards, items, stat increase, most powerful items and all the xp.

It's not "rebalancing" as such and it's not a bug either. Simply put if you have no character it's game over.

Like you said it's a game.

The Berserker immunity when enraged is a very simple way to avoid this effect.

I myself do not think that death when being mazed is a bug. It maybe a trouble game designers were experiencing when coding the game.

as the spells description goes you go to some nasty place for a while and then come back, but this removes a party member (you) leaving nobody so the game engine finishes the game.

when I opened up this subject I mentioned the sillyness, you should not die when you are mazed.

Death when charmed/dominated is reasonable. Somebody charms/dominates you. Tells you to remove your clothes(magical items or so) and slits your throat. Which is the succubus way of doing things

It's for sure a bug, but according to CamDawg (keep up the good work on the Fixpack all ye Fixpackers) it's unfixable: Unfixable stuff in BG2
