I could rant about the sheer stupidity of most stuff in ToB all day and night, but I'd probably crash the boards when I hit "Add Reply", and I don't want that. :D I prefer to think of Abazigal as a horrendously misimplemented half-dragon (even though he clearly isn't) and leave it at that.

Does that mean you can imagine Bhaal raping a male dragon? :shake:

But anyway, the mere fact that Bhaal was doing all this before the Time of Troubles answers any lingering DNA question. He was divine at the time, and as such not limited in his DNA. That makes my vote definitely no. :)

Just out of curiosity and since you seem to know a lot about the FR setting, are BG's plot elements actually canonical? i.e. were the Bhaalspawn an official part of the setting in any capacity whatsoever?

Well, although my knowledge about the FR setting is limited to the events of Baldur's Gate and those things that affected it, I believe that the Bhaalspawn saga was likely integrated into the setting as it progressed. I've also heard that there was a book written that was supposed to be the BG series in print, but was actually so far off from the games is isn't even funny.

The setting I'm really familiar with is Dragonlance, having read every DL book I could get my furry little paws on.

    I love you.

As to the Baldur's Gate books: the first one was so horrible I couldn't bring myself to read the others. Not only was it horribly written, it indeed was only barely tied to the original game.

Sorry if this is off topic...Oh, I agree as to the Baldur's Gate Book. I didn't like it one bit. At least they should have kept with the story and timeline in the game. Now if it were about the events both before and after the BG saga, sure go for it...

Another thing of it is sadly, is that the PC, whatever his name was in the book I can't remember, is listed in the timeline, along with the likes of Elminster and Khelben. Who was to say that the Bhaalspawn wasn't female, etc? It would be sad indeed if WOC made this fact in the timeline basing it on this poorly written book.

...anything, really. :p Boy, you guys really want me to start ranting, don't you? :shake:

And I believe that the name of the book's Bhaalspawn was Abdel. Not being familiar with FR at the time, I played BG first, and never had any reason to read the book since the first things I heard about it were on this board. And they weren't very flattering. ;)

Yes, the character's name was Abdel. I'm not sure, but I believe that's the name of the pre-generated "Fighter" character that BG provides.

I'm with you Felinoid. He's a badly implimented half dragon at best. Which is kind of Sad. Had they made him true to half dragons already provided in Canon Material he still would have been a really cool and very frightening enemy. As high a level as he would be he would still be capable of some very nasty tricks including the breath weapon. It would also make his Kensai powers if you add in ascension quite a bit more practical and believable. Since we're talking about a kit that doesn't apply to dragons at all.

His son is even worse and I think just in there to be another tough encounter in a series of them. Though I have an even harder time believing his son is a true born dragon considering the way both of them talk about other dragons. Though I could believe that there was indeed force in that whole situation to breed said son of a Bhaal Spawn.
