[IMG] I was just wondering how many of you know about the predictable processes of multi-part bosses on most games (to a degree)
    Yes?

Well, why have they put an annoying, multi-part boss on ToB, they didn't on BG, BG-ToSC or BGII. So why now...? I hate multi part bosses!:flaming:!:flaming:! Its always the same way...
Boss get kicked, boss pulls some cheap trick to buy more time to recharge/regenerate/whatever, boss comes back for more, boss gets beaten again, boss reheals again, and so forth :nolike: is anyone thinking the same... or have I asked the wrong people who are gonna get argumentative an my "hiney".

I think the boss would have been better if it was stronger, but died when defeated once. I don't think it's that important, it's OK as it is. So I don't really care.

You're not letting any difficulties that you had with those final battles cloud your judgement are you???? ;) :p
I mean it's not that bad. Not being able to rest and the baddie powering up makes it more challenging than if they had not.

Course the problem there is you can rest inbetween fights with her and prepare as much as you want before you cut the energy bridge and fighter her again. Not resting inbetween makes it very challenging. Resting inbetween lets you breeze through the fight however. Though I wonder if most people even consider resting inbewteen the battles or just charge blindly on?

[IMG] What? Huh? You can rest? I've been asking this question since July it seems and finally someones says you can rest? How, exactly where and when? I've tried it and it says the familiar you can't rest here, find an inn or whatever blah blah.

No you *cannot* rest in the end fight. No-way, no-how. You'll just need to do like I did and tear your hair out while cursing BI for making a too tough boss.

A too tough boss? I found it pretty good... tough, yes, but not *too* tough.:)

As for resting there, you could always try your luck with a wild surge (should you happen to be a wild mage, that is) or a Wish spell:D(I think you can rest with it). Of course, you could use that same spell to get 25 in everything for four rounds... that should have about the same effect on the outcome.:D

I almost gave up because I thought the boss was too hard for me. With no rest and without smarter preparations on my part in addition to me wanting to see the ending quickly so not having a very experienced party, and lastly because the game kept crashing especially when I was close to a victory, I almost couldn’t beat the boss. I also didn’t catch on to the fact that I’d need to be battling over a long haul with no rest until after I’d already shot my wad beating her in the first battle.

I finally managed to pull a final victory out of my butt without cheating but it took about 3 hours of playing time and taxed my obviously deficient mental faculties to their limit.

I thought the boss was challenging, at least for me in my situation.

Are you folks absolutely sure about not resting? I somehow remember resting after you defeat the guardians of the pools but before you cut off the energy stream. Now admitedly I could be wrong and I have no way to go back and check my games as I've uninstalled BG2 for now at least. Maybe I just over prepared or something with the summoning and damage spells for the final fight. Sorry I can't be certain but I could have sworn I rested at least one after I took out the demon bosses of the final soul pool (hmmm....good rock band name?). Anyway, *scratches his head* guess I'll never know *shrugs*

[IMG] Maybe it was a bug! I know for a fact that when i fought the last boss I could not rest.

As far as battles go, I still think Sarevok takes the cake eh? That battle was truly epic.

I never rested, didn't really think of it, somehow my speedbar items got recharged all after each time I defeated her (like golem book). If I hadn't got those recharged, I don't think I would be able to win the battle. And the very last fight was rather tough, and funny as well :D ahhh, hte memories, dead Sarevok ressurected, picking up his sword to swing it once more at amelissan without his armor, oh that was a grand sight, he survived too :D

I love toughness + greater whirlwind  :p

[IMG] My BIG question: Are you able to SAVE the game between fights? Then it is a breese: save, cast wish - no "rememorize" option? Reload and cast again! Hell, you could have unlimited options if you were able to save.

[IMG] The last fight was tough and required me to use my special abilities wisely, but I don't remember having to do anything extraordinary. The only annoying part was when the fallen solar disintegrated Minsc. I was rather upset, but in a hurry, so I just finished the fight; haven't gone back and won with all alive yet.

Actually, this one is a real tricky fight. Surprisingly (and perhaps with some luck) I never died at that battle (fought it with 2 different parties) and the most interesting part I found was that Amelissan fights much harder the 3. time than the last time. She summons a HORDE of ass-kicking monsters, casts the most powerful priest spells, teleports to different spots of the battlefield, but at the last encounter she just stands there and attacks with her ...hmph...spear(?)
Whatever - a real good, tough boss:)

[IMG] I found the second round the hardest as she knocks your entire party down and casts a couple creatures and then casts time stop. During time stop she ethier casts spells or if one of you're guys is near her she'll just starts beating on him until he dies which happens before time stop has ended.

[IMG] She did manage to kill Valygar this way, as he was already hurt when Time Stop went off. By this time though with two high-level clerics (plus Paladin Bracers if needed) resurrection is not a problem as long as they aren't chunked.

WARNING WARNING -- CHEESE CHEESE CHEESE

Just to see if I could...and you can...I beat that bitch with nothing but traps. She never even took a swing.

I was soloing through with a pure thief, and after use any item I took spike traps with every level up. I saved all my traps for Amelissan (thinking I might not have enough).

It was a little disappointing, really.

And with the exception of Sendai, I beat all the bosses that way..'cept Demogorgon.

    [IMG] Gonzago,
Maybe this is a dumb question, but since I haven't experimented much with thieves and spike trap, why didn't you use that method on Sendai and Demogorgon?
