I'm asking myself if I solo ToB with a sorceress wich spells are the best.

    My choice:

    Sorceress16:

    1: armor,
    burning hand,
    identify,
    missile,
    protection from petrification.

    2: aganazaar's scorcher,
    knock,
    mirror image,
    resist fear,
    strenght.

    3: Fireball,
    dispel,
    haste,
    Skull trap.

    4: Stone skin,
    improved invisibility,
    ice storm,
    greater malison.

    5: Animated dead,
    cloud kill,
    breach,
    cone of cold.

    6: Chain lightning,
    pierce magic,
    Globe of invulnerability.

    7: Finger of death,
    spell sequencer.

    8: horrid wilting.

    Is that good?

Level 1 -get spook. good spell.
Level 2- Melf's arrow over strength, and vocalise over the scorcher.
Level 3 - haste is useless for a solo, and fireball is a bit weak in TOB. Get flame arrow and slow
level 4- all good but i like wizard eye or farsight to keep me safe. kick the ice strom.
Level 5- LOWER RESISTANCE or you will get pasted. I like spell immunity as well.
Level 6- True sight is a must, globe of invulnerability is not
Level 7- hmm, tough one. Keep finger of death, but perhaps look at power word stun, project image or the like.
Level 8- you hit the nail on the head there.

    overall not too shabby. B-.

Was there a particular reason you chose Globe of Invulnerability? It is far inferior to other forms of spell defense, unless you want to use it in combination with lightning bolt (and then minor globe works just as well). More to the point, by the time you can cast it, the last thing you need to worry about is the 4th level spells of your opponents.

Yes dont worry about 4th level spells.

Cause the lowliest guard mages are atleast 18th level in tob, theyll start with throwing time stop and some symbols your way...

You can have more spells than that by the end of ToB.

    Here's how I would go:

    1.
    Magic Missle
Chromatic Orb (gives a chance to instantly kill. combined with greater malison it might actually work once in a while)
    Identify
    Spook
    Protection from Evil

    2.
    Mirror Image
    Melf's Acid Arrows
Blur (awesome spell. gives AC bonus as well as saves)
    Knock
    Resist Fear
(Perminant Vocalize can be obtained through the amulate of power.)

    3.
    Skull Trap
    Flame Arrow
    Slow
    Remove Magic
    Protection from Normal Missles

    4.
    Stone Skin
    Greater Malison
Fireshield Protection (Red) (Great offensive spell, allows you to kill some enemies that normally you can't touch)
    Improved Invisibility
    Ice Storm

    5.
    Breach
SUNFIRE (since you're solo, this is your best friend)
    Lower Resistance
    Animate Dead
    Cloud kill

    6.
    True Sight
    Pierce Magic
    Protection from Magical Weapons
    Protection from Magical Energy
    Death Spell
(Chain lightning doesn't do enough damage, and since you aren't worrying about hurting your companions, the major bonus of Chain Lightning is negated)

    7.
    Finger of Death
    Project Image
    Mordenkain's Sword (great immunities)
    Khleben's Warding Whip
    Protection from the Elements

    8.
    Horrid Wilting
    Power Word Blind
    Spell Trigger
    Pierce Shield

    9.
    Time Stop
    Spellstrike
    Chain contingency
Shapechange might come in handy since you're soloing

I didn't take Spelltrap because you can use the staff of the magi for that. ;)

    Cheers!

I will take good note of your suggestion. Effectively, there's some spells that I choose for habit and at this level they are simply a waste of resource.

Why there's no place for the wails of the banshee in your selection?

I never found it very useful in ToB because it doesn't have a -2 or -4 to enemy saves. Which means that mostly it's not going to help you, even with a pre-emptive greater malison. You can exchange it for Shapechange though, I was jsut trying to go fro something that might make you a little more versatile.
It's not as though you'll be using either shapechange or wail of the banshee often when you've got other spells like Time Stop, chain contingency, improved alacrity, and dragon's breath/comet.

I'd add Spell Immunity to the list. It's the most powerful anti-magic protection spell available if used properly.

I think having Warding Whip, Pierce Magic, Pierce Shield and Spellstrike is a bit redundant, since they all do the same thing at different levels and with increasing effectiveness. Don't know if it's possible to go without them though.

Well its an OK list just one thing...

    "MordenkainĀ“s Sword (great Immunities)"

    Yes and No

It does have alot of use full immunities, just not one against dominate and the like, then it would turn on you and be more of a pain than a help.

@Soulbringer: You sure about this? I've never seen mind spells have an effect on Mordy (but I use the "fixed" version, so this might be a bug in the game). IIRC, it is supposed to be immune to mind spells.

If soloing ToB, surely you wont have access to the staff of the magi or amulet of power? That's why i would recommend vocalise and spell trap.
BTW i find shapechange redundant, just summon a planetar. That way you get healing and help in combat, basically what shapechange offers.

Hehehe...I love these kinda topics. And normally, I would write a ten page essay on the merits of Fireball vs Skull trap etc etc.

BUT...what I will do is give the link for Klorox's similar thread here...

    http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/10/3003.html

You might just want to scroll down to my post there. It will definitely answer pretty much all questions you have about spell choices for your Sorcerer/ess...

    Cheers.
