Very strange thing. My male PC had been romancing Jaheira. She leaves, and I fetch her back again from the Harpers (which was remarkably easy). Then, from time to time, this guy pops up and does nothing -- "Malchor Harpell," I believe. I even attacked him, at the urging of my son, and after massive damage he does not die nor attack me, nor do anything at all. He is still following me in Suldanesselar, doing nothing, and then I finish the game.

What *was* that guy? Would he ever have spoken to me or anything? I feel that my romance with Jaheira was incomplete, and I imagine that this guy is part of it, somehow.

Jaheira never did offer to sleep with me, as did Anomen and Viconia.

Nope; you didnt finish the romance. Jaheira does offer to sleep with you, but she certainly takes her sweet time about it. Ah well; as long as the romance is active it may (Im not certain on this) continue in TOB anyway. This happened when I completed the game with Viconia before the end of the romance, but as I got to the end of the Jaheira romance I couldnt tell you if it applies here as well.

But I digress; sorry, but I never met the freaky invincible stalker guy. You havent got any items you shouldnt, have you (ie Drizzt and co's items)? Thats often the cause of strange npcs tailing the party.

Man, that's REALLY strange...... never heard of that guy before.

Let me know if anything eventuates from it.

BTW, the Jaheira romance *does* continue into ToB; they all do. I don't know how far though 'coz I was romancing Viccy the first time through.... ;)

Malchor HArpell is from RAS books. He's a member of a family of mages, who are quite ezzentric. (cross-breeding frogs and horses, shrinking mounts, water flowing oddly... vey Prattchett-esque) Malchor is the most powerful of them. Drizzt and WUlfgar meet him in Halfling's Gem.

Malcor Harpell only comes after you if you have any of drizzt's or his friend's items after you meet them coming out of the underdark. he wont leave you alone till he gets the stuff back. the programers of the game put Malcor Harpell in for game ballance. And cause they can just see your face after you go to all the trouble and lose all the reputation required to get all that neat stuff, and YOU DONT GET TO KEEP IT AFTER YOU GET THE LANTHORNE BWA HA HAH HA HAA HAAH HA AHHH HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Sorry, not knows what comes over me... must be fumes...

Alright but couldn't you just kill Malcor Harpell and keep all that stuff for yourself? I am confused here.

Malchor Harpell is a scripted character that is used to take drizzt equipment away from you, but because of some shoddy programming he really never works right. It seems that it is a crap shoot if Harpell will actually take Drizzt equipment away from you. My idea don't steal drizzt equipment, it causes more hasells than its worth. But that just my Two Bits
