How do I kill a demi-lich. There is one in Watcher's Keep in ToB. I have tried protect from undead: he imprisons me. I have tried protect from magical eneryg: he imprisons me. I have tried praying to momma before going in and that definately didn't help. I am using +4 and +5 weapons but it takes too long and he casts imprison (multiple times) before I kill him. Thanks!

lol. I agree this question is asked too often.. read the '50's ways to kill your kangaxx'

BUT, in all fairness, the post pointed out something very very important about the lich in ToB (as opposed to kangaxx)

He seems to be able to skirt around protection from magical energy--thus eliminating my number one defence.

does demilich howl or that room somehow remove this protection

Everyone knows so much about Baldur's Gate, and I appreciate that. But why can't some one just answer the damn question instead of refering someone to the "rules" or telling them to do a search. Maybe they did a search and it didn't cut the mustard. Some people here have a BG superiority complex. Thanks for nothing. Oh, and I posted in two forums because the genius that created two forums for the same game made it that way. There are demi-lichs in both software packages thus I wanted the opinion of BG2 experts without hearing "post this in the ToB" forum.

Edit: The search revealed a bunch of geniuses saying "use protection from magical energy" which doesn't work in ToB.

I understand your frustration.. but did you read my post? I was pointing out that in the BG2 protection from magical energy DOES work.. but in ToB it does not (at least, it fails often).

Please search for a post that links to a 'thesis' on the subject called '50 ways to kill your kangaxx (the d-lich in BG2). there are many ways to fool/defeat these bastard things--example--use a barbarian in a 'rage'.

edit: here is the post I was referring to:

Protection from Magical Energy doesn't work for Kangaxx either AFAIK; you have to use the scroll Protection from Magic.

Which, BTW, there are two in the game, both from the adventure mart in SoA. One for Kangaxx, and one for Watcher's Keep.

[IMG] Was that BG superiority complex pointed to me probably?

Pal, I don't have that one. PT superiority complex is mine. I mean, how can one have superiority complex for the game he hates?

Okay, thanks to all for the help. I am a bit disappointed that there are only two in the game. Because I got excited like a school girl and bought and used them both on the Demi-Lich in Watcher's Keep. I guess that means I'm hosed when I have to face Kangaxx. I'll have to keep my eyes open for more. PS.: There is a distinct difference in Protection from Magical Energy (which will get you imprisoned in a heartbeat) and Prot from Magic which is awesome against a demi-lich. Thanks again. And no, the superiority complex jab wasn't pointed at any one person. A lot of people fit that bill.
