The Chloe mod just seems to scream out "The only way I can get you to play this is by giving you a ridiculously overpowered character and I know you've got a lesbian fetish!" I think I'll pass.

I'll agree that Chloe appears overpowered. The thing is, though, she doesn't play that way at all.

Her 25 Dex is only a problem if you make it one. It really makes very little difference in the game itself - she's far from overpowered. Minsc can take her in the early game, no problem. In the later game she starts to come into her own, but she never becomes "uber." I don't know, of course, about ToB content, since it's not releaced yet, but in SoA, she never becomes overpowering.

Her dialogue is impressively written. My only issue is the rather open-minded attitude of everyone in this medevil setting about homosexuality. I can dismiss that easily enough - it is a fantasy setting, after all, not Earth.

The only real problem with Chloe is that her music/sound files during the lovetalks are a bit larger than those of the in-game NPC's, and it causes a noticable (and annoying) pause while it loads up on older machines (like mine...)

In any case, it's an excellent mod, and it's far from being broken or "uber." Now, if you've got issues with her back story, well, then, I suggest you stay away. Her being a demi-goddess is very much an important aspect of her character.

There's nothing that can be done about that. It's illegal to distribute wavc files, which is what the game files use.

They're not strictly illegal to distribute, as far as we know, but distributing the conversion tool is, and using the ogg->wav method actually results in smaller downloads. The slowdown, I believe, is a result of the large WAV songs being played as voice clips, which also happens in Mirrabbo Imoen.

Yes, compression methods can be use to shrink the size of downloads, but only .wav and .wavc files can be played by the game. Since wavc is a copyrighted format, modders have to distribute mods with music compression and then uncompress the files into wavs as needed.

It might cause some slowdowns on some machines, but we can't do anything about that. You could convert the files to wavc on your comp if you want, but we can't distribute those.
