Is ToB really worth the money to buy? People say that all you get is another maybe 20 to 30 hours of game play, which isn't much compared to BG2.

I'd say it's definately worth the money. I don't know how much time it takes to complete it, but I think it can be replayed several times, just like SoA. Besides, you want to know how it all ends, right?

By the way, shouldn't this be posted in the ToB forum?

[IMG] In my opinion, it is. You get to finish the story, especially if you began with BG1. :)

I hope Taluntain finds this thread and posts something to let you order from Amazon via SP so this great place can benfit from your purchase if you decide to get it.

Maybe I have a spare summoning scroll here somewhere...:hmm:

TOB is worth it for the high-level abilities alone. Fighters get abilities like greater whirlwind (10 attacks in 1 round), and wizards get 10th level spells (it's all about Summon Planetar).

Well, I think it is worth a try, but if it's a fitting end for the Bhaalspawn saga: Not quite.

I disagree with Ele. I think the ending is very appropriate and ties it all together rather nicely. I couldn't wait to finish the game.

The high level abilities alone make it worth the $30.
You also get a bunch of cool new items and the pocketplane ability.
The higher XP cap makes character planning a lot more interesting.
The new scenarios are pretty cool.
The new monsters are cool and the modifications to some of the classes are pretty nice.

ToB is definitely worth it for the new nifty items (finally get good weapons for those who put proficiencies in the wrong slots)

and if you're a thief or any of the class's derivatives, ToB turns them into gods =)

[IMG] Yes it does! Only downside: Sorcerer seems to be a bit underpowered in ToB.

Caleb, I said not quite. I think that ToB was just too short. In fact, I think that Bioware should have made a real game, not just an expansion. It is good, but it isn't good enough to close the whole story.
And about the endings, I didn't like them much, but I think everyone has, in their heads, a version of what-happened-afterwards...

Again, yes, it is worth that money.
About the ending...hmm, I think the fact you can choose your destiny by accepting your heritage or get rid of it and live a siple life is pretty fine. But the main boss is NOT. Amelissan jumps out of nowhere, she is just can't fill that role, I think. Something with your father, Bhaal would have been more exciting. You have simply no feelings towards Amelissan, you do not even know her much. I highly doubt that an ancient and powerful priestess as she is could have been left in the shadows for that long. Hmm, no, I think she is just not the best character to the final-battle..

  13. I don't know why you expect ToB to be as long as SoA. ToB is the expansion set. It's sopposed to be short. Besides, ToB is longer than most expasion sets.

    Edit: Buy ToB.

My point, Goddess, is that the bg saga should have ended with a real game, not an add-on...

  15. Yeah but if it wasn't an add on this is how it would go:

    BG1 & EXP, BG2 & EXP, BG3

BG1 and 2 both have expansion sets so it would be kinda weird not having an expansion set to BG3. Therefore, they just ended with BG2 expansion set. *shrug* this way seems logical to me.

I am pretty sure there won't be any BG3 anytime soon or even later...but...who knows...:)

[IMG] I thinks so too. But, then again, who knows?
BG was a golden goose for Interplay, and it's hard not to bet on a wining horse...

I think we've established that ToB is indeed worth the money since people have strayed completely off topic...
