    [IMG] Ok, I love this game but it still has a way of pissing me of cause I can't seem to get round this @~"£$% 'to hit' system.
    I went into the options and turned on the 'display to-hit rolls' option, so that I could see all of the hit rolls, heres what I found. Edwin has got one point in the Dagger and Quaterstaff prof. When I equip the dagger and attack someone he's got a +1 to his hit roll, when I equip the Staff he gets a +4 to his hit roll - why is this? - both weapons were standard normal weapons, no magical abilities no bonus's attacthed to them. I DON'T UNDERSTAND !

    Pleeeease can someone help me get my head round this.

    Thanks

    Telex

    THACH0 = To Hit AC 0(zero)
    AC = ArmourClass
    So if u have an THAC0 of 12 u need to roll a 12 or higher on a 20-sided dice to hit AC 0..
    With for exampel your THAC0 12 u need to hit a Dragon with AC -6 u need to roll 18-20.
    Formula: your THAC0 - Dieroll = the AC u hit

    Might depend on the race of your character and minsc' size; if there's a certain difference between your heights you get -depending on the weapon you wield- positive or negative modifiers to your throw (applies especially to two-handers or staff weapons) hth ;)

    Oh, anyway, hate to say this, but your formula is wrong deus: for instance if my THAC0 is, say 5 and my roll is 9, that would make me hit AC 4; if my THAC0 would be 15, I'd hit AC-6! ;) it's just the opposite: THAC0-Dieroll=AC hit

    When dealing with to hit rolls, one cannot forget that some weapons will hit better or worse against different armour types depending on whether it is considered a slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning weapon. full plate armor for instance protects better against slashing (-4) and piercing
    (-3) weapons. Check the armour table in the back of the guide.

    I have corrected my Formula, sorry but the system is so fucked up and messy, ancient as it is. Hopefully they are going to use D&D 3ed edition rules in future products..

    That they are. Pool of Radiance 2 and Neverwinter Nights will both be under the new Third Edition Dungeons and Dragons rules.

    I will admit that 2nd E#dition is far from a complete set of rules, but from what I have seen of 3rd E....

    I am not impressed. Maybe I am just old, and apposed to change in general.
