Ssmalass stared at the creature.

"One, I am not a sssnake! I am a messed up naga! Two, I don't know what right behaviour isss ssso I don't know what sssstrange behaviour is."

 

"Oh, well you have one thing right, you certainly are messed up..."
Kelvin's eyes flashed red as he hissed at the naga, he turned quickly and vanished into the air in a blue ball of light.

 

Rainette was thinking that maybe going on quests was not all that Uncle Krapo had made it out to be, or maybe he only told about the fun parts. He left out getting almost eaten, the Silent Death almost killing you, the sky falling, and strange blue lights that spit out weird two-leggers. Maybe he should go back to his hunting territory and eat birds and squirrels and fish.

But then, what would happen to Nicolas-friend?

Rainette decided to stick around for awhile, at least until he saw the end of the forest.

 

A number of moments later, the figure rolls back out of the dust cloud that has now seen fruitation into that of a mushroom cloud. Picking himself up, he spends a few moments coughing. Looking around him he grins to no one or nothing particular and places a chopping axe over his shoulder and a backpack strapped to his back

"Weeeeeeeeeeeell Guess its time to start chopping right yes Spider? Of course SPider yes! Spider understands with perfect clarity. Must find the natives and make sure that they won't be too pissed with Spider for chopping down their trees for fire and cooking oh yes! Hmm now maybe Spider can get them a gift to appease them! And I have the perfect gift! Oh yes Spdier does!"

The figure then pulls a piece of string and a feather duster shoots out from the backpack and lands neatly in the figure's free hand

"The perfect gift! Used it myself many a time to clean my seeeeeeeeige weaponsss! Weeeeeeeeeeell!Lets get a loo-.."

At this poitn the bolt of blue lightening thunders in not far from his position

"Weeeeeeeeell! That might be the Zh- ... no the Th ... argh! whatever! They have come after me! I must be ready! Maybe I attack them beforethey know what hit them ! Ha yes! Oooo! Spider is such a genius! Oh yes!"

At this the figure then begins to chant quielt to himself, allowing a faint blue glow to envelop him before it fades. With this he begins to stroll in the direction of the blue lightening, testing his axe every now and then on a twig or two, all the while humming and whistling happily to himself

 

Ssmalass stares after the weird creature, then says to anyone listening, "That thing sspoke of sstrange behaviour but iss it not behaving sstrangely and why is it hitting thingss? They are not attacking it. I don't like it."

He shifts around keeping an eye on the weird thing.

 

" Boy don't don't go near him and don't give anything you can't trust people who don't introduce themselves, you don't who they ar ethis guy knows so thats bad" he whispered " Go away stranger, you come here in all your magic how do we know ya won't kill us, and no magic chants this arrow is aimed at your thoat" he warned

 

"I am not sure about this young Nicolas. This man is not grateful to nature, and when someone is not grateful to nature, nature gets angry, and when nature is angry, I am angry."

 

Stumbling through some bushes and trees, the figure trips doing several rolly pollys, landing at the feet of one of the people gathered. Picking himself up, he tries to shake his head to clear out the dizzyness before looking at the gathered throng of people, his eyes still rolling about slightly

"I come in peace! Yes Spider comes in peace! You must be natives to this place and Spider wants to make peace! I have brougth a most useful gift from my land as part of a peace treaty! All I wish to do is make seige weapons so if you'll allow me to make seige weapons then it is all fine. Are any of you by the way Zhe- ... er ... Tha... I can't rememeber but do any of you like the colours Black or Red? If you do then please let me know? Eh yes? Spider needs to know see and Spider hates being wrong!"

At this he thrusts out the feather duster and grins

 

Ssmalass flicks his tongue at the creature and what he is holding.

"What iss it? Not good to eat. What are you? You don't look like a sspider. You look like thesse otherss but you don't act like them."

Again Ssmalass tries to touch the man's mind with his but all he gets is a very jumbled, confused, whirling sensation. He shakes his head and coils back into the water.

 

The figure takes a step back at the talking 'snake' and he shakes his head again

"Damned planar teleportation device! Screwed with my head that did! Now mkaes Spider believe that he can talk to snakes! What?? And no! This is not something to eat, it is so very useful! It allows you to dust and clean your creations ... liek for example Seige Weaponary ... What am I? Spider is Spider! That is what! Isn't that right Spider? Yes it is! Others? Others? What? Where! There be No Th-Th-ay ... about no? Speeeeeaking of which ... where am I?"

 

"Who the devil are you?" Kelvin said to the being called Spider.

"Oh, nevermind...Nicolas, you really must tell me if you have that gem I was talking of earlier."

 

"Please tell me why you are here .. Spider. And you as well Kelvin. You best do it quickly before you awaken more of the forest. I can only keep back so much." Derek said sternly.

 

"You Derek...I do not have to do anything you say"

 

"I do not know how you know my name, but I *suggest* you tell me, or Mother Nature will get violent."

 

"I've been following you, I know all your names"

Kelvin was starting to get impatient.

 

" Get away stalker! Why should we trust you who followed them like a petty rogue trying to steal a coin," he sneered. " Do ya even know mine ya rat?! "

Garron still poised his arrow at the newcommers.

" N' you who comes rolling in like a runaway wheel, and talking gibberish," he said pointing at Spider, " who the heck are you, and yes I like red but black is death but hides ya well, anyway Derek dosen't like you cutting down trees, so no siege weapons!"

 

The known as spider turns towards Kevin with eyes that seem to roll about with no effect at all and the look of the 'insane' is apparant

"Spider is no DEVIL! Spider is Spider! Spider is like you, just better looking, more itnelligent and Spider! Spider shall not give you the peace gift!"

He then turns to look at Derek, his eyes still unsettled but perhaps there is a glimmer of intelligence behind them

"Why Spider is here? Spider was teleported here by the Zhen ... or mayeb the Thay? Spider cannot remember. All Spider was doing was making Seige Engines for both of them but they didn't know that and one of them found out and put poor Spider into this machine that shot high into the sky and well ... Spider fainted... to wake up over there"

At this Spider poitns over to where the mushroom cloud is

"So Spider thinks that maybe he is in another world or universe or dimension ... or maybe Spider is dead and is in heaven? I always fancied a big garden to nap in oh Spider did yes! Um ... so who are you? Spider isn't like that man that is too stupid! to differentiate (sp) between a devil and Spider! And where am I? Is this Toril? Or is this some place else?"

He turns to give Garron a beady eye before roaring into laughter

"Spider's Seige Weapons cause much more damage than arrow! And youtalk about Spider cutting down trees! Where do you think Bows and Arrows come from? eh? Never thought about that eh? Of course not! Spider is a genius and only the most stupid or clinically insane cannot see the wisdom behind my words! But you like red ... Maybe you are Thaya ... no! They woudl never use such small weapons when they use Magic and seige weapons! ... Spider guesses that you shall not have the peace gift"

 

"My bow didn't need a forest to make it and when you get your siege engine wound up and ready to fire i would already have fifty arrows in ya" Garron growled.

 

Derek pondered the insane man's words. Zhentarim? Thay? Both are not very gracious towards nature.

"I am guessing you want permission to use the forest?" Derek asked, knowing his answer already,"If you do want permission, I will definitely not grant it. The forest would not survive."

 

Now Rainette was really confused. This weird two-legger was saying that he was a spider, but no spiders ever looked like that. Maybe it really was a spider, but just had an illusion making it look like a two-legger, so things wouldn't eat it, kind of like the moth that looked like a horny owl at first glance. There was one way to find out.

Rainette creeped behind the spider while it was talking, talking, talking. He zipped his tongue out at it and tried to swallow it. All that he got though was its hand. And it didn't taste like any spiders he'd ever eaten. He spit the hand out, with just a few light teeth marks on it.

"Yuck!" he sputtered. "You're not a spider! You taste horrible."
