Rubyne thinks its odd that someone would paint a door, but she decides that she dont have time for this and runs to door number one

 

Rubyne turns away shaking her head and reaches for door one, as she pulls the handle the painting of a door dissolves and reveals an open passageway.

What now?

 

Rubyne is a little dissapointed, hoping she would have seen a parchment for an all expense paid trip to the infamous Bondolovian beaches behind door number one, but she takes what she can get.
She wonders if the passageway is just a painting too.

Not that Rubyne believes in the illogical, but she decides to put one foot in the passageway and shake it all about, just to check and make sure her foot doesn't fall into another dimension.

 

Rubyne steps into the corridor and it shakes slightly she turns round to get out when she realises the wall has closed behind her, it has a wooden floor and smooth stone walls, Rubyne feels a prickling on the back of her neck - either she is being watched or there are dangerous traps.

 

I know this senario, I remember it from BG2

She checks for traps

 

Where is it in BG2?

She checks for traps and notices small holes in the wood of the floor, she can't find a way to disarm them, she'll just have to be very careful

 

She trys to avoid the holes in the floor and slowly walks forward.

 

she stealthily skips over and around the tiny holes until she reaches a certain point. She reaches a floorboard slightly different from the rest, there is a hissing sound as two poisonous black cobras appear out of nowhere, Rubyne tries to run further along the corridor but the holes in the floor start hissing. Rubyne should hurry - before the snakes get her or before she finds out why the holes are hissing

 

Rubyne thinks that she don't have a any other choise, but to proceed deeper in to the corridor.

 

Rubyne runs like heck down the corridor but has to pause as a jet of flame erupts from one of the hissing holes, it quickly dies down but as it does another one becomes a flamethrower. Rubyne will have to move quickly to avoid the snakes - who seem to have turned on each other for some reason. Rubyne looks back - they seem to erupt in a pattern, perhaps if she can work it out, but if she does she should hurry the snakes might get bored with one another and turn on her again

 

Rubyne tries to figure the pattern of the flame jets. She tries not to panic and worry about the snakes, but her mind is focused on finding a pattern to the fire.

 

Rubyne smiles as she slowly notices the simple pattern. she relaxes slightly but immediatly goes rigid as she hears a hissing - a very loud hissing - right in her ear. She saw a large black, forked tongue flicker on the edge of her vision - the snake was right behind her.

There was one unrepeatable thought runnning through her mind. But now she has to stay calm, think clearly and not become lunch. Simple they say.

 

Rubyne wishes she had a diary in which she could stab with a snake tooth right about now, but that's not going to happen. So she decides to play dead.

Rubyne swiftly collapsed to the floor - playing dead. She kept one eye open though to watch the snake, it seemed to shrug - for all it could do without should ers and look at her strangely it hissed - it sounded as if it was laughing. It lowered it's head towards her
"I'll give you 30 minutes, a gift, from the master." It slithered away in a mocking fashion and left Rubyne to shakily rise to her feet. She couldn't believe what she'd heard. But it certainly helped in giving her more time, she now has 45 minutes to get out, Rubyne looked on the floor where the snake had been, there was a strange pendant, she could clip it onto her necklace - it has a picture of a flame on it.

Rubyne looks at the flame pendant.

Then she looks at the flame jets.

Coincidence? She hopes not.

Regardless, her mind is no more focused on strange, talking snakes, but on getting the heck outta here. She tries to study a pattern to the flame jets, so she can get past them.

 

Rubyne shuffles hesitantly - the flame jets are still following the same pattern, she takes a shakey step forward and a wall of flame appears before her - all the jets became active at once! she stared in the same fashion as a rabbit does at the incoming headlights of a sixteen wheeler. she realised through her state of shock that her hand felt quit cool and normal - the hand she held the pendant in

 

Rubyne dons the pendant...

 

Rubyne clips the pendant alongside her own and takes another cautious step towards the towerin flames, she steps in and notices she is surrounded by a sphere of coolness where the flames bant away and avoided her. She smiles. Something at last was going right.

 

Rubyne smiles with confidence. She graps the amulet in her hand (which is also around her neck, of course), and saunters past the flames.
