Well, 3 chain lightnings is nice enough for me, it is totally party-friendly and can be used in tight combat situations, plus it does good damage. If I know there is a nasty bugger with tons of magic resistance and/or spell protections, 3 pierce magics will rip through almost anything.

I put 3 Holy Smites in Sequencer (as my PC is a cleric dualled into mage at lvl14), it is party friendly too and does GOOD damage, 14d4x3=42d4 damage to all bad guys in a blink of eye, followed by 3chainlightnings, deadly.

As for a pure mage, mmm let me think, greater malison, slow, plus confusion will be a great disabler! Gotta try!

Aerie used to put 3AnimateDeads (CLERICAL ones, they are 3rd level spell!) which gives 3 magicimmune(nearly) skeleton warriors instantly when a good summon or cannonfodder is needed.

I NEVER use these for defensive purposes though. Smarter mages from Tactics use these ALWAYS:

    FireshieldRed-FireshieldBlue-ImprovedInvisibility on self AND

    DispelMagic-ChainLightning-Chaos on enemies.

These combos are VERY powerful too! (and ANNOYING if you are on the receiving end)

Is there a legal way to get Improved Invisibility + Spell Immunity: Divination in the same sequencer? If so, that would be pretty broken.

Greater Malison first - lower those saves!

    Lower ResistX3 (dragons or drow)

    Breach-Remove Magic-Lower Resist

    Remove Magic-Gr Malison-Slow

At high levels I prefer Greater Malison + 2x Lower Resistance.

A favorite low level combo of mine for the sequencer is Greater Malison + 2x Glitterdust or just 3x Glitterdust. Gauths and beholders become worthless sacs of meat when they're completely blind :D .

How's this for a chain contigency, set to trigger on enemy sighted:

Project Image x3, or Project Image x2 + Mass Invisibility

Pause, have each image cast timestop, then unload wilting hell on the enemies.
