    there are two easy ways.

    1st: get someone to play with, have him host a multiplayer game (start one, be sure settings are right, like using ip adresses tcp\ip) rem,ember to get his ip, then use it to log on after he have started the game.

    2nd: download gamespy and register (free), let gamespy scan for games, then join the bg2 lobby.
    from there gamespy makes things simple. just ask people that is in the rooms there.

    just remember that both you and he other players needs the same versions.

    though the same mods arent really needed, exept for the new areas....... (sometimes its just fine, sometimes not.)
    mods like tactics works as a charm even though the others doesnt have it.
    they'll see "biff the understood" instead of creatures, and added dialogue is simply empty.
