The BF and I recently decided to start playing IWD2 again and wanted to start from the beginning. After a few false starts with the TCP/IP connect, we finally got into a game together.

Here's where the weirdness comes in. No matter who is hosting the game (my machine or his), I cannot do anything more than move my characters around on the map and talk to NPCs. I can't attack anything. I can't pick up loot. I can't open doors nor can I enter buildings. But if the BF takes control of the entire group, they work fine. If I take control of the entire group through the arbitration, then *no one* at all can go through doors.

I started trying to troubleshoot the issue by repairing the installation. Still same issue. I then made sure I had the proper patch by downloading and installing it again. Same issue. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled and re-patched. Same issue. There's no extra processes running that doesn't need to be. There's no firewall running nor any virus scanner so there's nothing there that's intefering with the game.

I don't know what else to do or to try. Has anyone ever come across this issue or have any possible suggestions, please?

This happened to me and my brother when we were playing Baldurs Gate on a network a few years ago. It turns out that i'd forgotten to turn his permissions on. Maybe IWD has a similar system?

I had thought the same on that one. We tried again while playing with ALL permissions turned on on the machine that was hosting the game and no joy.
