This question mainly concerns those who go on playing till their charecters reach level 30.

Currently, what feats and skills do you give a high AC monk?
I have a DG LE Monk of the old order and cant think of what she should concentrate on.

    Feats:
Dodge, Expertise, Blindfight, Strong Back, Weapon Finesse, Evenom Weapon, Improved Critical, Iron Will, Lightening Reflexes, Greater fortitude.
    Skills:
Hide, Move silently and Pick pocket ;)

Even among the feats I have listed I dont think all are useful or required.

What feats do you guys choose?

In my new party for example (also aiming for lvl 30), I also have a monk of the old order.

This is what I'm planning to do with my feats:
1st Level: Blind Fight & Dodge
    3rd level: Power attack
    6th level: Cleave
    9th level: Dirty Fighting
    12th level: Improved Critical
    15th level: Improved Initiative
    18th level: Toughness
    21st level: Toughness
    24th level: Toughness
    27th level: Toughness
    30th level: Toughness

Skills are easy: Hide and Move silently. He's the scout in my party.

Lemme know if you want me to explain any of the choices I made.

i think it depends on the race your monk is. if you got a deep gnome you probably dont need those saving throw additions due to SR.

also, why skill pickpocket ? is there anything else to pick except the lucky amulet ?

Why Weapon Finesse? This is only applies to small blade weapons (short swords and daggers). Besides, you're going to want your Monk to have high strength stat anyway. I went with Power Attack, Cleave and Greater Cleave. GC actually comes in handy when your wiz casts fireball and not eveyone dies :)

Lose toughness, thats about the worst feat ever. and even if you would take it, its only marginally worth it at first level only.

Also, isn't improved initiative bugged or something?

I dont think my monk will ever get above 16Str even with items and spells.
She is there for her high AC. Her stats are 8-20-10-14-20-2.
So Dirty Fighting, Cleave and Power attack are out of the question.

I think Eryendil is using the mod which sort of fixes Improved Initiative. Else everyone is aware by now that II simply doesn't work, even with the 2.01 patch.

I took Weapon Finesse since eventually her naked stats will be 8-25-10-14-23-2.

Having 15HP extra towards the fag end of the game for any charecter doesnt feel useful. Please explain.

    @Shrikant,
Why 14 points in INT? I would have dumped that and put it in STR. Weapon Finesse doesn't work with fists unless you have Weid's patch applied.

    @ bloodtitan
    *minor spoilers*
Sure there is--you can pickpocket a ring o' protection +1 from Ulbrec, a whole bunch of stuff from Elytharra (Ulbrec's wife), and several explosive potions from Oswald.

Elytharra's pretty easy to pick, but Ulbrec and Oswald are much tougher (I quick-saved and quick-loaded a lot).

This is a high AC charecter. My barbarian can handle the damage dishing out part.

I need 20 Dex and 20Wis, you will agree. And atleast 13Int for Expertise.
I can only mooch a point each off Char and Int. And I would rather spend it on Con.

She is currently at AC 26 during the prologue.

I've seen many posts, including some from moderators, that Improved Initiative is bugged and does not work and is not fixed by any of the updates. Taking it is a wasted feat. Too bad; it would be a good one if it worked.

    el timtor,
these are definetely not worth a skill. i admit the lucky charm is powerful but you can either steal it with 1 point in pickpocket and the mighty save and reload spell or simply kill the owner when leaving targos for good.

and to all who havent seen:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD2/index_editors1.php
there is a fix for the improved initiative.

Stange, When I first took II (sorcerer) it DID work without the workaround (latest patch still). My spells were that 1 point faster. I didn't take it again, after I read it's bugged, but at least that sorc got the benefit of it.

Well in that case I might let my wizard take II this time around. That guy is another one who has too many feats lying around.
What is the visible difference when using II?

Also what feats do you give an arcane caster? My Drow male will have 18 Feats. Too bad I cant transfer them to anyone else.

improved initiative lowers the casting time by one.
e.g. a 9th lvl spell is then casted as fast as an 8th lvl spell.

The casting time of a spell is given in the spell description as a number--"3", "5", or some other number--and represents the number of rounds it takes to cast that spell. Improved Initiative, if it worked, would reduce that number by one.

right, my bad. some are faster bu normally the casting time is equal to the lvl of the spell (at least was in ad&d).
