I have switched to HOF with a party of mostly 17th level characters. They are slaughtering goblins with one blow. This doesn't seem like HOF to me. I have quit and restarted, double checked all my settings...nothing seems to change. Any thoughts?

HoF only takes effect for the newly created games.
Export all your party members, put the HoF switch on, then start a new game and import your chars.

You will THEN see the difference

HOF mode makes the game beyond insanely hard. Normally a level 1 character gets 37xp for killing 1 goblin. In HOF mode a level 1 character gets 3600xp for killing 1 goblin. Not that he could because as you can see the xp is 100 times more, the goblin is about 100 times harder to kill, no joking around. If you want to play HOF mode it should normally be done with your newly imported characters from a game in which you defeated the twins.

I did something similar, but I imported the level 16 guys, nicked there stuff and gave it all to new level 1 characters. I nearly gave up since I chop from a goblin gibbed them, but with enough patience and strategy, you will have a level 10 party before you get to the first major battle in the Palisade. Fun!

    Thanks Krazack...
But you have not told me how to start a game in this mode, do I simply raise the difficulty level or what. I've got a level 24 sorcerer I could use but how to start in HOF mode?

    Heliosis

In normal mode, export the character. Exit the program and then in the configuration program, change the difficulty level to HOF mode, it asks you to confirm it.

Restart IWD2 then start a new party. Import your level 24 sorcerer and then start the game. You should be with Hedron at the docks.

The goblins shouls take about 100+ hp damage before going down. I can't say how much xp you would get for a goblin. When at level 1 I was getting 3600 xp. Later at level 10 it fell to about 500xp. So at level 26, I dare say that unless you have the Weimer mod, you may still get nothing at all for them. I have never had a character that high in level so I can't say for sure, but don't expect much. You would get more xp from quests.

BTW, did you solo the sorcerer before?

Sorry about, before, does this help?

    Cheers.
