[IMG] And to add to my previous post, if you import your char stats from BG2 you will NOT qualify as legit for the official Vault servers, so you'll only be able to play with it on the unofficial servers.
I bet this dispelled some illusions outright.
My advice: Don't bother with importing but create a new char in NWN. At least it'll be legit and playable everywhere.

It seems that this is the controversy of the week around here. From the posts I've read, most people(here at least) have played the game through before they took of the exp cap. So to that I say fine. And even if they did not, who am I to flame them. It's their game that they paid for, so they can do whatever the hell they want with it. Again, I would think they'd only be cheating themselves in that instance and wasting their money. But who am I to judge?

My highest char now is my lvl 10 sorcerer.
I will start a new game soon because sorcerer sucks.
(few spells, lots of casts per day... sucks)

Xp cap remover is fair and it isn't cheating. I don't know where do you get 2,9 million exp when I had hard time getting in lvl 10 (250 000xp).

The game can't be too easy. Too many times the enemy has a wizard with spell protection, normal missile protection and all the other protections, and shadow door with improved invisibility and other very annoying spells on. Then they summon a wyvern, gnolls and other horse crap and then I am dead already to confusion.

Stupid thing is that confusion doesn't affect the enemy since they have 9999999 bonus to all saving throws.

This is what happened in the planar sphere when I was attacked by a Cowled Wizard, Tolgerias.

The game would be easy if my sorcerer would be like Irenicus.
    99999999999999 lvl 1,2,3,4,5,6... spells
    Spells regenerate every round.
    All spells. Interruptible spells.

I got 2.9 mill around the start of chap 6. No, the game isn't too easy, nor is it too hard. At the start of the game, it should be troublesome to get past basic ememies, only because they are probeble at higher level with better stuff. Such an argument isn't worthy to justify removing the cap the first time through. But I'd just like to know from people who have tried. Using only the remover, not adding any exrta experience, and playing the whole way through with a new character, exactly how much exp is available in the game and at what level did you end at?

As I said before xp cap remover is cheating. If you play the game through you will have no problem reaching 2.95 million xp.

On the other hand if you give up early as in 250 000 xp then you haven't really got very far to judge how good or bad a sorcerer is. Which is incidentally what you get if you for example do the circus,copper-slaver and perhaps the talking sword (in other words not very far at all).

There are a lot spells dealing with removing spell protections. Use them...

If your character ever reaches higher levels (like 16,17 or so) you will see that you can match Irenicus.

You can beat powerful mages in the game without cheating by keep on drinking healing potions till the mage ran out of spells and his magic protection wears off. But your not allowed to keep on drinking potions because it's cheating. Also having too many powerful items in the game is cheating too, because the magical items make you too powerful.

Most mages in the game can cast level nine spells while you can only cast them using a scroll.

The Caps Exp remover is fair. It is the equalizer that gives you the little extra exp that you earned.

Firstly, if you were any good at magic, you should not have to drink potion after potion just to beat a mage that can cast level 9 spells. And why level out the playing field. Show me challenge when you have all 6 party members so powerfull that they can go toe to toe with the hardest creatures in the game. There is no friging need to be that powerfull unless you are just messing around, so don't use that defense. Any normal party with normal game progression can tackle any game situation. And so what if other mages can cast level 9 spells. Is there really just an absolute need to be able to cast them(other the freedom). No there isn't. It's a perk, one that will come along with the inevitable expansion. And I don't think anyone's saying using the powerfull magic items is cheating. It does make a character a little too powerfull, but then I'd rather have that than have to kill Drizzt just to get a couple of decent swords(ala BG). I swear with posts like this I am going to quit defending power gamers with the "let em play it however" arguments.

How can you kill a wizard if,
Anomen says, weapon has no effect
    Minsc, critical hit 11 dmg
Sorcerer, magic missile, magic resistance, no effect
    Yoshimo, no effect
    Jaheira, dead/healing others
    Aerie, running scared

    Just pisses me off...

Wip Minsc and Anomen into a defensive formation, guarding your sorcerer. Have Anomen summon some skeletons to help occupy the wizard while you set up. Move Aerie and Jaheira away from the threat and use them to heal those wounded, and keep Minsc/Anomen alive. Have your sorcerer now protect himself (just in case) by casting Armor/Ghost Armor/Spirit Armor/Mirror Image/Stoneskin/etc... Use your Sorcerer to cast Breach, Secret Word, Dispel Magic, on the opposing wizard. If you don't have any of these, bang your head against the wall and learn to play a sorcerer at the same time. (You didn't just take offensive spells did you?) Cast Lower Resistance to allow your magic missiles to be more effective. If all else fails, retreat, question why Minsc is only dealing 11 damage on a critical, (what weapon are you giving the poor guy? Find him a talking sword, would you?) and continue banging your head against the wall.

A sorcerer is probably one of the greatest characters at a high level. I know there are alot of pro-paladin/pro-monk people here, but even they'd agree. 90% of the spells available to a mage are just plain useless in most situations (how many times, HONESTLY, has anyone used protection from acid?), so commiting yourself to the basics (MM, Fireball, Breach, Lower Resistance, Greater Malison, Stoneskin, Mirror Image, Finger of Death, Monster Summoning III, etc..) is not that bad of a draw-back in return for the amount of casting you get.

Wizard: Oh damn! I've used all of my magic missiles, but I have a Protection from Normal Missiles memorized!

Sorcerer: Memorized-Shmemorized. (Casts magic missile, beast falls dead) Remind me to give you a boot in the ass when we get back to the Green Griffon Inn.

[IMG] There's just one VERY useful spell you've forgotten. Miscast magic. I use it all the time.
3/4 of mages will fail their saving throw at it, and when they do they're rendered powerless. All you have to do now is beat the protections they've cast on themselves or dispel that as well. Piece of cake.

I often forget that spell because most wizards/liches/etc... have sequencers, and their wards are on them instantaneously. You have to break those before you can cast Miscast Magic on them (I may be mistaken). Also, Deafness is great for producing the same effect. Thanks for pointing out my lapse.

Exp cap remover is not cheating, I got to level 17 (2.950.000exp), with my sorceror.
I got bored after I finished the game in every way (i can think of anyway), to make it more challenging, I got rid of almost all off my party members except for minsc, then used exp cap remover. Mucho fun, always it's either try or die.
