What, or which key do you need to descend to the Ice Temple lv2?

As the title...
I have two keys, one from Lysara and one from Cathin(don't remember the name). But still I can not use the stair down to the second level.
Does someone know exactly what is required to proceed to the second level? Is my case a bug?

 

IIRC,There is no key needed to go down to 2 level.
Instead of that, you have to "talk" with the Kuldahar´s tree painting that lies next to the stairs down.
Check old threads to find out wich "answer" is the one that leads you down.
For example, the "Auril,grant me your strenght..." or something like it takes you to the battlesquare.

 

In addition to the painting/steps, there should be a secondary entrance in the room that was filled with Ice Trolls. That room should have a trapdoor in the middle that opens steps to floor 2.

Well my queston is which key is needed to open this secondary entrance which is in the room filled with Ice Trolls.
I can't find anything to open this stair to the second level. But so far I thought the key from Cathin or Lysara should open it.

 

As far as I'm aware, there is no key. It should open directly.

If that's not the case, it's possible you need to use the altar to open that door. That altar should do 3 things if I remember correctly: open the Abashi door, disable the anti-magic field, and open the "study". I never did figure out which room the "study" refers to, but it might be the troll room.

The painting definitely works. "Lysan" and "Auril shower me with strength" should take you down to floor 2 (Taken from GameFAQ's).

 

The study is the middle of the three rooms to the left just before the room with the ice trolls and the stairs leading down to the second level. Usually the first time use turn the dial you hear 'the sound of a door opening somewhere' which is the study. It has 5-6 books worth very little and some scrolls. If you have not yet unlocked it, it says the combination on the door just like the other two that you can unlock.

The door in the middle of the room filled with ice trolls should open with one of the two keys you have, Cathin's I think.

Last night I tested this area. Found that I had a save from just before entering the Ice Temple. I marched directly from the front door to the Ice Troll room, killing anything that got in my way, but not picking up anything, and I was able to open the door. So, since I didn't pick up anything, apparantly
the "Ice Troll" door doesn't require any keys.

I'm going to go into DLTCEP later today and check out the ARE file for the "Ice Troll" door info.

I got no idea what's with this door. Everytime I try to unlock the door it says the door does not have a conventional lock......

Lionheart, after going into the 4101 ARE file, it turns out that the door in the Ice Troll room *is* locked, but doesn't require a key to open. You have to kill all of the trolls in the room to unlock the door. There should be 12 trolls that need killing. However, I suppose that once in a (very) rare while it might be possible that the game scripts don't properly set the 2 global variables that control that door. I'm guessing that that's what's happened to you.

Here's how you should be able to get that door open, assuming that you've already killed all of the trolls.


Open the Cheat Console and type in the following commands...

ctrlaltdelete:setglobal("IceTrollDied","global",1)

ctrlaltdelete:setglobal("NumIceTrollKilled","global",12)

 

Setting these two global variables should unlock the door.

 

after reading this last post I believe I've found the solution (or at least part of it) to my problem in dragon's eye!
are there any global variables that need to be satisfied to get the last (south-east) door open on the third level?
I believe it's all about killing the boy-snake-priest

so if anyone knows how to do the trick please let me know (remember I can't get him hostile in anyway...)

 

Drider, it's almost certain that there are global variables and script issues involved in your Dragon's Eye problem.
