    [IMG] Just wondering.
Does your alignment have any bearing on the game whatsoever?
I mean, if I was a LG Paladin and hacked up a few innocents would I be penalised? (possibly a bad example)
Conversely, a CE Drow acting in a LG manner.

Or when you select an alignment personally, do you aim to play that character as close to his/her alignment as possible?

The only thing that I have observed alignment in action would be in clerical spell execution. Like baddies would have access to certain bad spells, and goodies would have their own share of good spells, and who gets affected by what. Only that I find there's a good equivalent to almost everything bad.

Anyway, of all the games from BlackIsle, I think the best execution of alignment would be by Torment. I mean, I think it's quite dumb to *select* which alignment I want to be, when my actions can speak otherwise. In Torment, alignment is determined by the way I play the game, and well, I think that's more realistic.

I agree compeltely, another game to do this is Neverwinter Nights. As far as i can tell, Alignment has almost no cosequences at all, other than clerical spell selections and multi-classing.

Some nice items in the game are alignment restricted, some of them are pretty cool - so it might make sense to have a ballanced party alignmentwise.

I'm playing it through with a full neutral/chaotic good party and a 5-member evil party. The evil party is just starting Ch. 1, so far the only difference I've noticed was when you teach the recruits at the palisade; good characters give an inspirational speech, an evil character uses scare tactics.

C'mon Ragusa I didn't try evil party yet but some of the dialogue options i had with my paladin tell me that angliment does not have anything to do with it :( See the truth in the eyes - IWD series are hack and slash, story and dialogue are not impotrand.Furthermore some dialogues are so stupid made that it gets annoying. You finish chapter 1 and the saleman that brouth the party (can't remember the name) keeps telling the same stupid stuff like at the beginning - where the lord of the place is, what happend to those houses and so on..... But anyway it's battle game - forget speaking - anyway most of my chars have int. 3 hahahaha :D

At the end of the game when you finally meet the bosses, one of them is able to cast 'Blasphemy', this area effective spell will instantly stuns anyone that is non-evil alignment for 1 turn. Alignment becomes a matter of life and death in this situation.

Do you mean 1 round? (1 turn = 10 rounds)
    1 round is nothing.

Definitely dialogue options change based on your alignment, although I can't think of any really serious consequences of this. The main example I can think of is returning the ring to Nathaniel in Ch 2- if you have an all-good party, you don't have the option of lying about finding the ring or even just walking away. As soon as he mentions it you have to return it to him.

Other than dialog, the only times allignment has mattered that I've seen is from the reactions of other party members. With other games like BG I & II or IWD I've sometimes gone through with different parties and just had fun. If I went through killing everything, any lawful good party members would object and threaten to leave. I haven't tried it with IWD II yet because I just got the game and am playing it legitimately for the first time (don't use any cheats or editors, don't beat someone up because they talked to me, staying to the storyline and following the quests, etc.) Has anyone gotten objections from party members for actions that go against a certain alignment?

Nope, and I'm sure I would have if that was built into the game, because I had a party with 2 evil, 2 neutral, and 2 good chars and I tried every quest with them both the good and evil ways.
