My sorcerer can not seem to memorize his spells. I can get wizard and druid to memorize their spells but even though I have rested for more than a day my sorcerer can not cast any spells. Any ideas on what I am missing?

For Level x spells you need 10+x charisma with sorcerer,i know it's weird that a sorcerer's prime requisite is CHARISMA not intelligence. For Level 1 spell you need 11 CHA,for 2 you need 12 CHA and so on...

Mmm, Sorcerers need not memorize spells to cast them, like wizards, clerics, Paladins, Rangers, Druids do. Charisma is used to gain and cast spells (Look this up in the manual), but Sorcerers are freeform casters, meaning let's say you choose magic missile and burning hands at Level 1, and you see those two spells in your spellbook (key 'S') right? You see the numbers at the bottom? Something like 4/4 or 6/6? That's your spell limit. As you cast either burning hands or magic missile, the number decreases by 1 everytime you cast 1 spell.

Ah, but if you've rested and can't cast...then I suppose Charisma is the problem.

    Ah, did that help? o_O'

Charisma is at 17 and he was able to cast level 1 spells all through Targos. Is there any kind of equipment that could keep spells from coming up. Granted no matter how long I have him rest they do not show up in the memorized queue (spell button on bar is greyed out) No armor, sling and I forget what melee weapon he has.

So I dropped all equipment and double checked stats and had the party rest for a week. No luck. Ran the repair utility. No luck. I went back to a saved game at the start of Chapter 2 and the Sorcerer could cast. Picking the game up from there the problem has not come back....what is different is that the version show as 2.0 whereas the saved games that dont allow sorcerer to cast are version (2.01 - post patch installation version). Best I can tell is that this is a new bug.

Well, going through the 3E Player's Handbook.

Charisma is now something more than persuasive ability. It also now measures, in some circumstances, an innate 'derived from within' kind of personal power. Sort of like, 'I will it to be from within, therefore it shall be!' Well, I thought they could have tried to come up with a better word for it than Charisma.

Well anyway, Wizards take the academic route to magical power, learning spells from scrolls and such. Sorcerers simply churn it out on their own innate power.

So, maybe your sorcerer lost his/her faith, thus he/she lost the innate power he/she had.
    Just kidding...
