The perfect 6-PC party revisited

    Squatting 3 sorcs at once shouldn't be too hard. Invisibility sphere, then stick them in a corner of the map. It has a nice long duration...

    The differecce between 27 and 28 sorc levels is.... (drum roll please) one first level spell per day. Also skull trap and DBF each get one more dice of damage. And +1 to the Will save. I agree it is rather unimpressive.

    But the difference between 2 and 3 paladin levels is...

    ...

    ...

    Cure Disease, one casting per day. No save increases. Very sad, I know.

    By the way, you can take the single Monk level last so avoid the exp penalty.

    JT, thanks a lot for that informative high-level Cleric post. Does the same apply for Bards, Druids, Sorcerers and Wizards?

    When do Sorcerers stop learning spells?

    [​IMG] Practically everyone has dead zones from L21 - L24. Between those levels they gain spells at a slow rate.

    Sorcerer spell progression past L20 happens only at every alternate level. However since they gain atleast 3 spells each time, leveling further continues being useful. From L20-L30 a Sorcerer gains 17 spells, atleast one each at all levels.

    Wizards have a blank spot for L22 - L24. They don't learn any spell for these 3 levels. So best stop at L21. After L21, you gain the ability to cast 3 spells (1 each of L3,L4,L5) only.

    Druids seem to gain atleast 1 spell per level. You could stop at L21. Druids get their last L9 spell (and an extra shapechange) at L26.
    Clerics have the same spell progression as Duirds. The only difference being that Druid L9 spells are actually useful.

    Bards. I really cant believe the spell charts I have. A Bard will always know more spells than he can cast. The Bard will gain spells slowly between L11 - L20. After that he gains spells at a respectable rate.

    I hope you don't take Paladins and Rangers for their spells :rolleyes:

    Klorox, the manual, which I am pretty sure is available for download form this very site, has all that info on pages 136-144. Here it is for sorcs, because I like sorcs. You'll have to look the rest up yourself, although Druids are the same as clerics,

    Additional Sorc spell slots per day after level 20:
    21: 1st
    23: 2nd
    25: 3rd
    27: 4th
    29: 5th
    Absolutely miserable, but luckily there are other reasons to gain more sorc levels.

    Additional Sorc spells KNOWN after level 20:
    21: 1st, 3rd, 6th
    23: 2nd, 4th, 7th
    25: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th
    27: 2nd, 4th, 6th, 9th
    29: 3rd, 5th, 7th
    Level 27 is the most important, because there are a lot of good 9th level spells to take (compare to 8th level spells, where there are only two really good ones).

    Level 27 is especially good for sorcs because it is also when your shadowy summons gain their final upgrade.

    WOW wizard levelling is pretty pathetic after level 21. The only real reason to continue levelling seems to be for an extra feat or 2 and more damage of spells like DBF and skull trap.

    I agree, Goon66. It looks like I might be adding some levels of a tank-like class to my Druid, Wizard and Cleric if and when I get to a high level like that.

    Does an XP penalty really mean that much at such a high level? I am just guessing here, but it seems like it probably won't matter too much in those higher levels, esp. since you'll be so powerful anyway.

    i was going to add 2 rogue levels to my druid and cleric but that has just turned out to be useless :(

    Goon, there is also the improved shadow summons. I don't remember what the level 18 ones are but I'll bet they are a lot worse than the level 27 ones.

    I don't like wizards. Even a cheesy unlocked specialist gets one spell per level per day less than a sorc, and can't spontaneously cast. Wizards get a ton of skill points, but sorcs get +10 to all saves (I'm assuming a level of paladin). But the deal-breaker is spontaneously casting, which is a huge advantage for Sorcs.

    oh good point what level spell is the best shadow summon? Cause if its level 6 i gotta start using it. The best one is shades right?

    Goon, all three shadow spells are equally good in HoF, because the HP reduction basically does not apply there. I learn them all so that I can cast lots of summons. http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/14/2445.html

    I haven't used them in normal, but I assume the HP nerf works properly there, which would make all but the 6th level version too fragile. Also, since your sorc will be much lower level, you will get much crappier monsters.

    Good point though 100 hp is quite a bit not nearly the difference they should have ill still learn the highest level one cause i find ALL level 6 spells so far seem to suck as do level 5 level 4 and 7 soooo much better :( . I keep running out of 4 and 7 and all the other levels but NEVER 5 and 6 i'd rather not cast then cast those spells :p

    BTW i just read through that topic but did you ever compare REAL rhemorhaz's to the shades cause they can be summones by monster summoning 9 ?(though that more ofter brings Greater Feyrs which really badly suck they cant melee and no one fails the save against fear and i HATE my enemies getting affected by it since i need to chase em :( i prefer frost giants :) )

    Level 6 also has mass haste and chain lightning (which I dislike because it doesn't seem to "chain" much and doesn't do enough damage).

    Level 5 has Chaos which is really good. Also it has Cone of cold (again, not enough damage in HoF).

    i like chaos and mass haste but i dont really need to cast a buff like that often enough to use up my spells for those levels. And also sure chaos is ok but its better to cast something like mass dominate in that same turn :p .
