[IMG] Do you get any xp for battle square and if so when?

I'm playing a HOF game and I haven't noticed any xp going to my characters.

On the HoF level, only level 1-2-3 are really worth doing unless it is random...it will be exactly the same reward...unless you want a copy of any particuliar item...Oh, it does make you rich althought if you sell them, especially the junk +5 throwable(bolts, arrows or darts)...

There might be slight XP, I received XP lines a few times, but I didn't check it, I was all almost crying when I see all the same rewards for levels 4+. I mean, I would not have kill those extra 175 monsters for been rich beyond common sense, only first 3 levels. :p

Battlesquares is well worth doing for a number of reasons.

Anytime that you earn a level of a rank in Battlesquares, you recieve one of the following rewards:

    1) a spell scroll
    2) random missile weapons
    3) gems and gold
    4) an XP bonus.

The XP bonus for ranks 8 to 10 is quite substantial in normal mode. And yes, you can insist on receiving the XP for each level by reloading.

The material rewards for Battlesquares is also very substantial. The more notable ones:

Rank 1 - Dragon Belt - +2 bonus to Reflex Saves
Rank 3 - Throwing Axe of Shocking
Rank 4 - Boots of Grounding
Rank 6 - Club of Disruption
    Rank 8 - Ice Spear +4 (Icelance 1/day)
Rank 10 - Brilliant Short Sword +5, all attacks ignore armor and shield bonuses
Prize for completing all ranks, Bracers of Icelandic Pearl (-2 dexterity, +4 A.C., Conjure Water Elemental and Horrid Wilting and Cone of Cold once each day)

    @ Beren

So that means I should always save before finishing the last monster of a rank. This way I can reload and try for the xp as opposed to the other stuff. I'm assuming the xp should be pretty decent as I'm fighting pretty hard monsters (HOF mode).

Killing monster of battle square yields xp? i never notice that, i thought only finishing a level or a rank gives you xp.

The belt is +3 save, and at HoF level it also have 6/- cold resist.

The Armor with 5/+1 upgrade to another 10/+2 at HoF level, the other items are identicals no matter if HoF or regular. Wasn`t the armor on level 3, unless it was 4 or 5...unsure... :p

You can consult Bartholomew's walkthrough for the all the weapons, but experience does go up with rank, as well as level of difficulty, I'm having trouble on Rank 5 with a level ten barbarian. The good thing is that *Spoiler* you can go back to them when Nickademus calls you back.

[Edit] You are right Snook and Beren, I was confused on the wording.

    Nope,

I just finished HOF and the wand of dead is on 9, the short sword +5 on 10 and the bracers for finishing all 10.

I also didn't get any experience until rank 8 and then it was a pittance. For finishing all ten I got around 7500 xp.
