That is what you don't do, for reasons obvious in this case and the other one. Read before you post. One of the so dead-obvious rules that we don't list it.

Anyways,i don't think scimitars are worth using AND their art is like normal swords not angled as it should be.

[IMG] I think IWD2 ripped off Bastard Swords, and Scims.. *Pouts* Sides, Wouldn't, In all Sense, Scimi's be considered Exotic Weapons? Instead of Martial?

This is a little off topic, but scimtars ARE worth using. Yes, the art is wrong, and i'm not sure whether they should be exotic or large swords, but as for in game use they are good because they have a critical threat range of 18-20, unlike longswords, which have a critcal threat range of 19-20.

Scimtars still only have 2x critical, but you will get that critical hit 5% more than long swords, and 10% more than axes. This is ideal for dual wielding rangers with improved critical + executioner's eyes + maximized attacks, if you execute it correctly; when you activate your maximized attacks your scimtars should deal upwards of 50 damage on a critical hit; even more if you use heavy cleric buffs/aura of vitality/barbarian rages.

Personally, i choose one hand for bastard swords (damage) and one hand for scimtars (critical). IMO long swords are worthless since they are both weak for damage and bad for crit rolls. I occasionally wield both scimtars if I'm facing alot of enemies, and single wield a bastard sword if i'm facing tough enemies

Scimitars inflict critical damage on 18-20 instead of 19-20 like longswords. It's silly IMHO that they aren't exotic weapons if bastard swords are. Bastards are by no means exotic, only a bit atypical and a bit more difficult to handle, but hey, it's just a longsword with a two-handed handle. Unless you're a paladin able to wield the Holy Avenger or you play in Hof, there are no longswords worth mentioning IIRC while there's loads of good scimitars - nothing really special still, just big 'pluses'. With Improved Critical however, inflicting critical hits on rolls 17-20 is nothing to be underestimated (my pure class sorc with 10 STR and no combat feat was doing well in melee with a scimitar +5).

Yup, there are a few good bastard swords in later chapters of the game, so it's worth mastering in this with a fighter.

As Katanas haven't been implemented, bastard swords are the best 1H damage doers. The trouble is that they don't have high BAB or enchantment bonuses. Neither have longswords (HA excepted). That-wise scimitars rule. Only they don't have any fun save that high bonuses and a greater critical range. If only they were some 1d8 instead of 1d6. Nb: dual-wielding two scimitars (one +5 and one +3 highest possible unless in HoF IIRC) with Improved Critical can make an utter cutthroat of you.

i only go for bastard swords feat if i get some good ones in the early stages of the game, otherwise i don't bother.

it's totally random i think, but you can get some decent b.swords very early on. once i got a simple bastard sword (+1 i think) that did an extra d6 of cold damage all the time with each hit almost as soon as I left Targos. needless to say, I gave it to my fighter who specialised in it later on. I later replaced it with a +3 (i think) b.sword that did d6 fire and d6 cold damage with each hit.

unfortunately I hardly ever got any decent random scimitar drops.

[IMG] k, but the good weapons are usually not random drops...aren't they each time at the same place? Anyway, I think my char will dual wield 2 scimitars cuz I prefer scimitars to bastard swords even though they deal less damage.

[IMG] *Billows his mage robes, tweaks his wizards hat, and begins to scribe this one down. * "Elminster, Would you believe we've got Yet Another Elven Ranger that prefers to Dual Weild Scimitars?"

*chuckles* That should be enough of a hint at what i'm thinking.

Dual Weilding HA's is great fun, (High spell resist)

Bastard's Son, and Know Thy Family are nice lil BSwords.

Mooncalf's Shield And your weapon of choice is Excellent vs large number of Archers.. (Protection from Normal Arrows/Missiles.) I love that shield.. :D
