    Hello
What do you think the ideal four-character party would be?

I was thinking along the lines of an Aasimar Paladin (Helm), a Tiefling Rogue (/wizard?), a Druid and a Wild Elf Sorcerer.

Any opinions? If you do, please include race, stats, weapons and feats.

Thanks. I've been driving myself crazy with different variations all week, want to find some other input. :) ;)

While I haven't gone far enough to design a 4 character party, I think you should have a cleric (straight up or multiclassed). The paladin's and druid's healing is too limited unless you intend to stack up on potions.

Well, for me the Paladin isn't good tanker at all. So:
    1. Shield Dwarf - Fighter(2x)/Barbarian(x) - or Fighter(x)/Barbarian(x), because of the Greater Rage
    2. Half Orc - Barbarian(2x)/Fighter(x) - inversely proportional of the upper class
    3. Strongheart Halfing - Rogue(14)/Fighter(8)/Cleric - Demarch of Mask(8)
    4. Wild Elf - Pure Sorcerer(30)

I don't use healing a lot, myself. I prefer the Druid's destructive powers anyday, even if I miss out on the undead summoning. I might though, if I get too desesperate.

I haven't gotten to the Holy Avenger area yet (mainly because I keep blowing up computers ;) ), but I wonder if a Paladin/Fighter using it would be better than a Barbarian/Fighter? Anyone know?

Elan, thanks. I'm wondering, how useful would the Strongheart halfing be with all levels spread out?

    [IMG] Hey Fin!!

For me the perfect four characters team would be:

    1. Human/Aasimar, Cleric
    2. Wild Elf, Sorcerer
    3. Dwarf, Rouge 3/Fighter X
    4. Human/Aasimar, Paladin

    Try it!!

    You wont be disapointed...

    Hey Istari! :)

I will try it, if just for fun. Looks pretty good, thanks! Any suggestions on stats/feats?

    Aasimar Paladin of Ilmater (pure)
Battleguard of Tempus (Pure or 1 fighterlevel added)
    Aasimar Sorcerer (Pure)

As for the fourth slot I'm thinking bard, but I'm not sure. Druid could be very nice as well. Maybe a Ranger/Druid.

    Fin.

Only a Paladin can use the Holy Avenger, not for a barbarian at all. Don't expect it to be very exciting. It is not as good as Carsomyr in BG2.

My party of 4 consists of

    Barbarian5/Druidx
    Ranger/Rogue equal levels
    Bard11/Sorcererx
    Cleric of Talos/Diviner equal levels

Not sure how it will fare, but I don't really care. I just wanted to do something different.

Strongheart of Lightfoot - they both are the same, except that the first gains one bonus feat at first level, instead of the lightfoot that gains little bigger savig throws, so it's REALLY up to you. Personnaly I think the feat is little better than the saving throw...

Well, Demarch of Mask gives bonus Hide, Sneak Attack and Lockpick I think... In bonus of that you gain very useful healing spells, which you'll need in battle... Combined with Thief and Fighter classes your character will be a help tanker to the dwarf (the half-orc is just matter of your taste...) So you could try the game even without the half-orcish Barbarian...

Sorry? I mean, feats you can gather a pretty lot when leveling up. SavingThrows you can't, and can't be high enough.

Really, ST are way higher on the priority list than features. A +1 to all Savings is definetely worth it in my book. Though the featpoint's usefullness differs per feat as well.

[IMG] Well, personally when I play with Stronheart that doesn't affect my gameplay... :)

I didn't say your halfling would suck, I said that a ST boost is generally more usefull than a featpoint, though it depends also on which feat you wish to spend it.

What do a Druid's shapechanged claws/paws/whatever count as? Do they rely on strength?

I have tried this as a 4 person party.

Deep Gnome fighter (to later multiclass to illusionist)
    Deep Gnome monk
    Human monk(1)/druid(x)
    Drow sorceror

The ECL is not really a problem at all provided that you build the above characters properly and use a lot of stealth/hit/run/bomb tactics. The deep gnome is a good choice for the potential melee units. Their AC is easily mid 20s in the very early game and with blur / mirror image / invisibility, they are even better. Their spell resistance allows me to bomb the area with all kinds of spells esp druid ones. All my characters are excellent to well above average snipers.

As a side point, I chose a monk / druid build to give him evasion and give the generic wisdom related AC bonus. This stacks with his shapechange AC.

The 4 person party I have going.

Drow: Fighter/Mage. Once he could throw some fireballs around, I quit leveling him up as a mage. 14 int is all. Mirror image is almost to powerful on this guy (mirror image is almost to powerful on anybody). Handy with the great sword.

Dwarf Cleric of Tempus. In my opinion, best cleric for a 4 person party.

Plain 'ol human sorc. She's leveling up pretty quick. Getting some deadly spells early in the game. She's a rock 'n and a rollin.

    Tiefling rouge/wizard.

So, got a little of everything. It's been a pretty easy game so far. Nothing like seeing 3 fireballs getting casted at the same time to clear out an area.

This is purely academic, gonna try it once I get my new laptop.

Paladin of Helm: fighter 4/paladin x (aasimar)
Monk - scout & hand to hand (perhaps drow for the mirror image, if not, human)
Battleguard of Tempus (gold dwarf perhaps)
Wild Elf Sorcerer x/paladin 1 (yeah, cheesy but it works ;) )

I pretty much agree with Mathetais here - he has an excellent combo for a party of good-doers :shake: I would perhaps choose priest of Lathander instead of the battleguard but anyway a good choice.

    I'd wished I could play a *that party* (in 3e) through BG-2 ....

I agree Ragusa, if Baldur's Gate 2 had been 3rd Edition, that would've been the ultimate CRPG. :)

This i what I want to try some time, just for roleplaying interest.

    Paladin of Helm
    Morninglord of Lathander
    Druid
    Sorcerer

    Or else

    Paladin/Painbarer of Ilmater
    Fighter1/Druid
    Rogue/Wizard
    Barbarian

Btw: I wish you didn't even mention it, Ragusa. It hurts to know I'm not able to play BG2 in 3ed!
