Has anyone been able to survive with two wizards with the scarce distribution of scrolls you have in IWD2, in the normal mode?

Is that as in two wizards only?

My first time through the game was with a wizard/rogue and a pure class wizard--but I had a full 6 man party as well. Other than the frustration of not having much of a spell selection, I don't remember the game being particularly difficult in normal difficulty.

Yes, two wizards only, each of them multiclassed in a 50/50 proportion. Should be about the same level in the wizard class as a single-class wizard in a party of six and from some point on even lower (you get to level 13 in a 50/50% solo multiclass, while you can get 16 in a party of six).

I´ve always plays with two wizard(one multi, other pure) and yes, you experience some troubles with the spells you´d find in normal mode.
Usually you´ll get the "ammo" spell and you got no spells whasoever to select from...a waste of level, don´t you think?
My pure wizard is always specialized so I´d try to cross-school with the multi-one.For example, a pure diviner and a multi conjurer works well enough to advance.
OtoH, you always expect problems finding the "rigth" spell, so I´ve read the ideal party is a wizard and a sorcerer.
Oh, and the great scrols just comes to you in the latest stages of the game, when everybody seems to be more advanced than you in levels(that explains why is sooo difficult to charm or enchant them,I think...)

If you'd want to have any fun you would probably need to DK some scrolls in because you'd be hurting a lot early on.

(sigh) Dalekeeper! It's a nifty little program that allows you to change basically every aspect of your character to whatever you wish. Appearance, stats, alignment, sex and even INVENTORY. You can just place any amount of spell scrolls in your inventory slots and then just learn as many as you wish!

Download DaleKeeper II right here on SP.

I think the OP is assuming that you're not going to use a tool like DK to eliminate the issue scroll scarcity.

btw $ilv, can I ask how you received your prestigious new title? Making some friends, are we?

Naaah, no DK for me, thanks. ;) If it weren't the first time through for my partner (multiplayer game of two characters ;) ), I might try a mod or something. Otherwise not really. Just maybe adjust the classes.

I guess it's kinda the ONLY way you can play the game with 2 pure wizards in your party. There's hardly enough scrolls in this game compared to games like BGII :(

(Talk bout this in the other thread Marceror :D )

Which makes sense, in BG2, your average Orc Joe can drop ANY scroll, I looted a Spelltrap (lvl 9) from one, and many various level 6-7-8 scrolls from most unexpected places.

Try making them specialist in different school, and if they have different barred schools, they can share the scrolls. Or get a sorcerer an you are done.

You know when you get to Kuldahar and there's the merchant who sells you PLENTY of scrolls? Is that basically the first time you can openly buy enough scrolls to support a party with two wizards? I don't remember much before that ...

Yes before that you need to make some decisions. Skulltrap for one, Fireball is for the other. Haste goes to my buffer, slow is to my aggressive caster, etc.

Alot more strategy for this game huh? I have to admit I prefered the hundreds and hundreds of spell scrolls you could purchase basically right from the beginning ...

Even if I migth get the chance to actually borrow the $ilvershield´s new tittle( it´s that obvious I´m a newbie?), I want to ask all of you people:
How anybody "rises" in the gem ladder?
It has something to do with the amounts of posts? because I´ve checked and compared it between the most distinguished members and it seems to not follows a pattern wasoever.Sooo....there are "shorcuts" to achieve those nice and cool pics?

So does anyone believe they could complete the game with ONLY two wizards?

I don't think it would be difficult (unless you're playing HoF mode).

At least you'd be able to conjure up plenty of summons and you'd probably be pretty high level on your second run through, I'm just saying the lack of scrolls would be reallyyyyyyyy hard in the early stages ...

Scrolls of the first three spell levels can be obtained near the beginning and with spells like mirror image, blur and shield your mages should be able to surpass even fighters in combat.
The lack of spell scrolls for higher levels is rather annoying than a real difficulty.

Exactly, so would you enjoy playing the game and TRY to see it through? Or would you just give up, or, umm, cheat :D
