[IMG] I went through the game with 6 and 4 members, and I think I want to solo.

What should be my class? or multiclass?

[IMG] I think you gotta multiclass...I'd go with a fighter/mage/thief, or fighter/cleric/thief...Something with a good balance o' different skills

my best pick would be a pure cleric, because you are going to need healing,

    or a Sorcerer x / paladin 1.

If you are going for a Paladin/sorcerer you should consider two levels of paladin. In addition to a few more hp you get immune to fear and disease.

Sir Bel, this isn't BG2, you can leave the silly multiclassing restraints aside ;)

And how is Vicionia a class?

And indeed, Paladin2/SorcX would be the easiest way to go, although a svirfneblin Monk would do a very fine job at it as well. :)

I'm not sure about the pure cleric idea. They have great defensive spells and can heal, true, but the are horrible in battle and have little in the way of offensive magic. Maybe throw in a few levels of some sort of fighter. Cleric/Monk might be nice since they both benefit from the high wisdom.

If you're going cleric, take the battleguard or painbearer cleric. I still recommend against it. While Clerics are good on the defensive, and can heal themselves easily, they lack firepower.

That and that in combat it's easy for someone to disrupt your spells.

In fact it's possible to make a cleric that is both a decent tank and a decent caster. There's quite a lot of buffs that could make the cleric more effective than a fighter for a short time.

You could get four levels of fighter, but that would screw your skills. However, weapon specialisation and additional feats could be very useful. Getting paladin, barbarian or ranger levels isn't all that useful since a few more HP or BAB points aren't worth the sacrifices.

You could also start with Painbearer cleric, take 4 fighter levels and then 3 levels of paladin of Ilmater. Immunity to fear and disease, the ability to specialise in weapons - including the Holy Avenger, clerical spells at still nice levels, stone skin (Ilmater domain)...

Just imagine: draw upon holy might, holy power, stoneskin, protection from evil and HA in hand...

As for my own preference, I'm soloing a paladin/wizard, but I haven't played for quite a bit. He was more than fragile at the beginning and is heavily reliant on spells, but he simply kicks asses. If I were to cast all useful buffs from both classes, the first few would wear off before I have finished casting. I usually go with mirror image, haste, stoneskin, bull's strength, sometimes blink, blur, luck or some other ones. It's possible to make the guy completely untouchable for a time long enough to put down the most valuable targets. After that he's still largely untouchable. But when all mirror images and stoneskins have been used then it becomes less funny, especially if you can't rest.

[IMG] How about Pal1/Wiz1/FighterX? You can read some cleric scrolls, any Wiz scroll, get the super Charisma saving throw bonus, use the Holy Avenger, and get all the great fighting feats...

[IMG] I thought I'd just butt in here. I think a Pal1/Sorc1/FighterX is significantly better, as the Paladin's high Charisma would tie in well with the Sorcerer's spellcasting. Sorcerer's can also use Mage Scrolls so that is no problem. I'm rather sceptic about the fighter though, I'd stick with a Paladin/Sorc IMO.

Sorcerer(1) enables mage armour and identify at the very least - not a bad thing to have.

I soloed the game with a pure cleric of Talos, and it was a cakewalk.
With all your buff spells on, you're about as deadly as a fighter, but a lot more resilient. And having access to "Heal" spells at the end of the game is just gravy.

For HoF, I believe a sorcerer is the (only ?) way to go. But for normal mode, a pure cleric may very well be the "best" option.

I'm currently soloing a monk, and they just don't compare. The cleric was WAY more powerful.

[IMG] I think the best combo is sorc(29) and cleri(1), paladin might not be a good choice because with cleric (1) you can use all the cleric scrolls, including Heal or Mass Heal, which is better than some saving throws. :p

Level 28 or 29 is no real difference so far as sorcs are concerned. You may as well get sorc28/paladin1/cleric1 and your sorcerer part won't suffer.

What do you think would be the outcome of a duel between a lv. 30 Sorcerer and a lv. 30 cleric of say, Talos?

The Sorcerer would win. As for solo MONK! :)
