Why not? When you thrust the blade you can hit a certain spot very well ...

No one spoke about remaining hidden. You dont even need to be hidden to make a sneak attack. Flanking the opponent is enough. And eventually you can only make one sneak attack per round iirc. So what?

You got point.Nothing against sneak attack in a fight.Alltruogh I still think it'll be not so easy with the heavy weapon.I said backstab in the clasical means.Sneak to the enemy wizard and cut his head off :D :D :D I just can't get enough of it :D :D :D
Joshimo was allways my favorite thief in BG 2.With belt of ogre str.(19) 5x sneak = 70-100 damage.Swift mage death.....Not to mention criticals :)

Hiya! I use dual wields for aesthetic purposes, to create a unique group, as is why I use bastard swords often as they are the sweetest swords around. Also, a dual-scimitar wielding druid would be wocked neat in real life, although in the game there aren't any super fancy graphics. Dual wields are interesting, and can make the game different, oh well, maybe its just me.

[IMG] Don't forget the longer reach of 2H-weapons.
With summoned monsters making up your first line, your tanks can stand behind them in a second line if they are using 2H-weapons.

I'm in late in chapter four (Hof Mode). I have a Ranger 10/Rouge 11. He dual weilds the Bleeding Short Sword+4 and Lolth's Cruel Sting+3. With Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, the Girdle of Beautification, a modified Dex of 23, and the Weapon Finesse, Improv. Crit, and Improv. Init. feats, he is doing really well. Plus I've got his AC up to 30 with Chain of Drakkas armor, Swing From the Masts headband, Expertise Feat 2, and a Ring of Protection+1.

With the weapons he can cause bleeding wounds, poison (and on a sneak attack, Crippling Strike!)--fun!

Moral of the story: If you can beef up your attack bonuses, and are using weapons with special abilities...go for it! (Pluse you can skimp on the Rogue's strength score and spend it elsewhere...)

(Also, keep in mind that dual-weiding anything but light weapons will incur serious penaties...)
