[IMG] Does being a specialist wizard count as being a wizard? So an elf advancing as a necromancer is still advancing in their favored class? If you want to be an elf transmuter/rogue and have to keep your classes together, then they totally botched IWD2.

Also, I'm going to make a party of 2. What do you think is the best combo? Do you think they both need rogue 2 for improved evasion? I was thinking about a R3/F4/Wx (or Sx) and a Monk-x/Cleric-x or a F4/B5/Cx... what do you think? Also what weapons do you think they should focus in?

it is the specific wizard class, not wizards in general. so, if you have a male drow with x necromancer/ x+2 ranger, you take xp penalty.

i think my playing habit is different from your playing style so my suggestion might not be working for you. i don't think you need both with rogue level. you only need one of them with some rogue level if you feel like to de-trap. if you don't think de-trap and lockpick is not that important (you might miss some good stuff if you have problem lockpick), you can totally forget about taking rogue. if i were to play duet, i will take something like cleric (mask, for mirror image) 20/ fighter 10 and sorcerer 25/ rogue 5. but then that is me, not you. the reason i need so much level in spellcasting is because i play with summons all the time. i rarely have use for my fighters. and of course, with this kind of combination, i will have a very very hard start.

I suggest the following for your party:

    1) front line - Monk/Cleric - great AC, WIS used by both classes, quite good HP

    2) Sorcerer/Thief - area effect spells, talker, thief skills

Both will have evasion, and the frontliner can have Improved Evasion at level 9 (monk)
