Noted that they never said "wife" or such for Vaarsuvius. They also seem to consider elf neither man nor woman :-/ (#225)

also #176 Belkar uses rage :)

    Lol! I love 8-bit Theater!

You forgot about White Mage and Black Belt (who is unfortunately dead)

White Mage = LG Cleric (Battleguard of Tempus? Definitely hand her a two handed hammer, for bashing Black Mage)

    Black Belt = LN Monk

    BUMP!

I think Gandalf is actually more of a Druid than a Wizard (although he's called a Wizard).

He's got a huge connection with nature, and even casts "Fireseeds" in The Hobbit.

Gandalf is definitivelly a wizard, but yo uhave to remember that mgic in LOTR is a pretty universal thing, there is no difference between divine and arcane magic etc. Also Radagast is perhaps the closest thing to a druid there.

Why? What Wizard magic does Gandalf actually cast? The only spells I can think of are more closely represented in Druid magic, and he belongs to a heirachy of Druids (which is a concept D&D adapted) too.

First things first, what books you take into consideration when discussiong this ? LOTR naturally, Silmarillion ? (its a great source for this), MERP ? (always got the feeling it was more adapted to MiddleEarth than fitted for).

Gandalf cast and use alot of illusions, he also uses alot of enchantments, but they are not as apearant as the flashing fires and illusions (think when he turns away that snake poisoning Theoden of Rohirrim). And he is heavy on the elements of Fire and Air.

Conjuration and evocation is still within a wizard/mage's consept, so he could easilly recreate all such spells from the two elements he favors with those "sides" of a mage. Where a druid again would actually lack any access to illusion, and be in general crappy at enchantments. Also Gandalf is not in "deep touch" with nature, as opposed to forexample Radagast (whom is a follower of Yavanna), where Gandalf is a follower of Manvë (thus hes mayor into elemental air).

"And in that time was first made the Counsil of the Wise that is called the White Counsil," -Silmarillion

Well, i dont think it can be called a druid circle just becose it mentions wisdom :p The persons listed in the counsil is a very waried bunch. Granted it is made up of mostly "Wizards" (gandalf, saruman, radagast, and the two blues) as well as elves but still.

Also just to throw up some listings from the: MiddleEarth - The Wizards cardgame:

    Gandalf: Warrior/Scout/Sage/Diplomat Wizard
    Saruman: Scout/Ranger/Sage/Diplomat Wizard
    Radagast: Warrior/Scout/Ranger/Diplomat Wizard
    Pallando: Warrior/Ranger/Sage/Diplomat Wizard
(dont have the last one, but iirc he would be a: Warrior/Scout/Ranger/Sage Wizard)

Tiny comment to that, all the 4 is ranked as "WIZARD" as Race, the ther cars have like Warrior Dwarf, or Sage Elf, Scout Hobbit etc. and they have insanelly many classes those wizards (considering there is 5 max).

To compare a bit more,Denethor: Warrior/Sage Dunadan, wich would be one of the closest thing i can think of as a "spellcasting human" in Middle Earth.

    yeah, im done ranting :p

    Back on topic:

    Big Bird: Asimar Bard/ Barbarian
    Elmo: bard/ illusionist
Zoe: monk (she is into ballet)
Grover: fighter (he does have that helmet)
Oscar: Rogue (with high appraise skill)

Of course avatars are solid colored yellow, red, orange, blue and green respectively.

General Ghoul - that is the single coolest thing I have seen on SP for a long time. :thumb:

    But you left out Ernie!

He could be a druid (he likes ducks) or a cleric (he once turned some undead on a trip to an Egyptian pyramid).

Oscar would have to have really low Charisma too.

What about Kermit? He's probably a Bard as well, playing the banjo and inspiring everyone.

Hmm, not much spellcasting firepower though. You need a pure sorcerer or wizard I think. Maybe The Amazing Mumford could be a wizard. Or The Count - he must have access to some dark arts.

I like the LOTR theme party. Recently started a new theme party of my own based on the favourite drow ranger and his friends :

    1. Drizzt Do'Urden
    - Drow Fighter/Ranger
    - finesse feat w two short swords
    - couldnt use twin scimitars due to the fact that the finesse feat doesnt cover scimitars and that this drow thrives on dext to make every hits count and to increase his AC.

    2. Artemis Entreri
    - Tiefling Rogue/Fighter
    - finesse feat w short sword/dagger combo

    3. Wulfgar
    - Human Barbarian
    - warhammer

    4. Bruenor Battlehammer
    - Shield Dwarf Fighter/Barbarian
    - axe/shield combo

    5. Regis Rumblebelly
    - Halfling Rogue/Bard?
    - sling/quarterstaff combo

    6. Cattie-Brie
    - Human Fighter
    - sword/shield combo or longbow

ps : somehow, in my alternate reality, i prefer entreri to be on the 'good' side for once and being able to pair up with the drow to complement each other's swordsmanship :)

Are you going to beat game with almost no magic? You can add sorcerer Robbilard or wizard Harkle Harpell or cleric Stumpet or cleric Cordio or druid Pikel Bouldershoulder instead of Cattie-Brie and Wulfgar.

I had almost the same party but I had only Drizzt, Wulfgar, Bruenor and Catti-Brie. Another difference was, that Catti was cleric (game without magic would be hard... and boring :) )

Playing this game with no arcane magic is certainly interesting, but there are ways to get past each encounter if you think (or look) hard enough.

yeah ... just remembered that my team has little magic support, esp in the healing portion. this makes every battle more worrying, and in a warped way, more dangerous and interesting.

my team comprises of mainly melee characters with ranged characters in the rear as backup. worked so far. agree that it would have been more interesting if i had a sorceror/wizard or cleric or druid with me.

the other magic characters were not included probably because they were not the lead characters in my opinion and i wanted to roleplay with a tightly knitted team who will go thru thick and thin, with or without magic ... :p

saw a drow theme the other day and i came up with the list below, but i havent managed to decide who to pick for the final 6 :)

    1. Drizzt Do'Urden
    - fighter/ranger
    - favoured because of his fantastic duel wielding skill

    2. Zakn'fein Do'Urden (forgot his name - Drizzt's father, weaponmaster of House Do'Urden)
    - fighter
    - favoured because of his swordsmanship too and his value in roleplaying as Drizzt's father as well as complementing Drizzt in the melee arena

    3. Uthe' Armgo (forgot his name - Weaponmaster of 2nd House)
    - fighter/barbarian
    - favoured because of his brute strength and the chance to have a drow barbarian

    4. Jarlaxle Baenre (leader of the shadow guild)
    - ??? (rogue? fighter? sorceror?)
    - favoured because of the mystery surrounding this character.

    5. Gromph Baenre (archmage of M' city)
    - wizard or sorceror/?
    - favoured because this is a high profile archmage who is unbeaten so far, even against the lichdrow in one of the stories.

    6. Triel Baenre (high priestess of Lolth)
    - cleric/?
    - favoured because of her high profile and the opportunity to introduce clerics into the party

    7. Quenthel Baenre (high priestess of Lolth)
    - favoured because of her high profile and the opportunity to introduce clerics into the party

An all drow party would rock as well.
